:D Yep, the Hindu ceremonies are long but you don't have to stand the whole time, though, Dave :rotfl:

That's good then, though if it's in India, I won't be there! OK if it's in Wembley. :)

Hmmm....still only 2c outside. I'm wondering what I can do with that. With the wind chill, it's more like -3c. :(

EDIT: Just seen the rest of the country, so will shut up!:o

ITSME:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: thanks for the pm. I know I shouldn't but I did have a chuckle... at least you know it will be a wedding that will be remembered.

Hope you are ok today, with all the standing round etc yesturday.

Agree Davesave, I am moaning about the weather too, the wind, ran and the cold, but bloody heck I seen the news last night and some places are:eek::eek::eek::eek: makes me look like a wimp and windging about the weather:cool::D

Well last night just about to switch the tv off, but flicked through the channels first, and there were programmes on about Slade, with all the old tracks, tv footage etc.. I am wide awake and mumbling along to the songs:rotfl::rotfl: They were a great band.....thats all I've got going through my brain this morning 'mamma we're all crazeeeeee now':rotfl:

Errr....I have no great dislike of Noddy & Co, but when I was a sensitive, ex-hippie at college, I had to spend a year in a room next to a Slade fanatic who played them at all hours and mostly on full volume.

What's more, the strange guy above me was into, wait for it......Andy Williams!!!:eek::eek:

After a year of "C'mon Feel The... Moooon River" I was crazeeee just to get out of there!!!:rotfl:

Thought it might make you giggle :D That was only half of the story. I could write a comedy novel on it ;)
Touch wood no swelling. Just a bit achey so, all in all, pretty chuffed. Thanks for the thought.

Just damp (not actually raining), dreary & chilly here but we don't have to go anywhere. Most nights between now & 7th April are currently due to be around freezing or below. We may get back to double figures from 7th on :j but it doesn't look much like Spring for the whole forecast :(
Temperature-wise your way looks much the same but you are due more sunshine. Don't get too excited, though ;):D

Just been to Lidl's and see they have strawb plants that look as if they have been grown very fast in warmth and incapable of standing any stress.

Homebase have spuds with 6" of tangled growth and racks and racks of baby veg plants.

At least its 1C here :D

Old dental bridge has broken off, so appointment next week to see if it can be put back but I doubt it :(

The snow started here on Friday morning with a mini-blizzard every couple of hours, but didn't settle. Saturday it snowed all day with slushy roads and pavements causing slips and skids. Having gone for our weekly shop at 7.30 a.m. on Saturday and slid across the slush there and back, we decided to stay in the warm for the rest of the day. This morning we woke up to about 4 inches of snow and -4C with strong east winds making it feel considerably colder. DH 'just had' to go out to the newsagents for his paper , but luckily he stayed on his feet and returned safely to some lovely hot porridge for breakfast.

Lord knows what our heating bill will be for this winter, but we've got to the stage of not caring any more! DH has heart and circulatory conditions so it's not really an option for him to be cold as he takes hours to warm up again. Just as well he's still working I suppose.

The sun has now come out and we have a rapid thaw. Let's hope that's the end of the snow, I could do with some nice Spring weather. The plums and cherry's buds are starting to show colour and I could do without them starting to flower if we still have frosts to come. All that in-and-out with fleece covers can be very wearing. Do hope everyone else is keeping warm and safe.

We're home! The road was fine, though lots of snow in some places, very beautiful, made the journey pleasurable. :)

Unfortunately we discovered OH forgot to put the rubbish out before we left... Including a couple of raw mackerel fillets that marinated in the kitchen rubbish bag while we've been away! Left back bifold door open for a while, and now running the fan thing (it's not an extractor but filter), but suspect the carbon filters will need washing again after this (and he only did them a week ago).

Having caught a whiff of it, now I can smell it all over the house. Though I think that's just my nose acting up. Oh well, if spring ever arrives we'll open all doors and windows and air the place out properly, in the short term I might be in the market for some strong smelling joss sticks! ;):o

Glad to be home and warm again - we never got the caravan over 65F the whole time, even with CH on full and gas fire on full. And the only time it got that high was when the sun came out and we had some solar gain. Nights got much better for me when I remembered I'd got my wool bed socks with me and started wearing them in bed. Seems if you have warm and cosy feet the rest of you don't feel as frozen! :j

On the whole it was an OK break, OH went for some long walks that he really enjoyed, he needed some time for his kind of fun as well as doing some gardening! Here's a section of the new slate edging he put in this time to replace the logwood edging that's been in for ages now (it was guaranteed for 10 years, but has done rather better).

Have to say I rather like the slate. Since photo taken OH has swept patio, and the rain has washed the slate, so it's looking even better now. We'll be nicking some more slates from DD2 and SiL, but they are bigger and will need cutting in half lengthwise... Anyone got any handy hints on how to cut slates in half? These come from a house built in 1798, so it would be a shame to end up not being able to use them due to being ham handed over halving them!

At lunchtime I broke the tooth the expensive woman dentist filled last summer. :( My National Health guy said it would break if it was filled again. Hmmm.... National Health or private? It's a different guy, but I think I know which I can afford! :o

Tried to stay outdoors again today and succeeded most of the time, but it was hard! OK cutting up branches this morning, but grovelling in the soil and planting shrubs/potting up perennials was tough on the fingers. We have so many places to plant things suddenly. :)

    wb maggie :hello:

Totally agree. If my feet get cold then I feel cold all over. Socks or feet tucked in a fleece throw are my bedtime saviours.

If the slates are the thinner roofing varieties then they are best cut by scoring & then a quick snap. Child's play ;)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_x0V2uQ1Es (skip ad)
If thicker then we use a grinder.
The edging looks wonderful. Take care when working near it, though. The upright edges of slates can be viciously sharp.

Dave - Ergh - Sorry to hear about the tooth problems

I think if the slates are strong enough for edging, you may need a grinder, Maggie.

With this wind, it's keeping my head and ears warm that governs how the rest of me feels, but it was cold fingers that finally forced me inside today.

Hope lir and Alfie are OK. Knowing who I sent it to, alfie's last funny video has probably gone viral in the village. :)
