 hello, I'm back (did you notice I was gone?) I took a week out from being online in the hope that I would be really productive and I wasn't :rotfl:
The weather here is foul with no sign of it improving and like others I have decided not to get anything sown as it is too wet/snowy/freezing :eek:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
I found when we had a Rayburn that we had to clean it all the time as we lived in a wooden house and it was something that I felt was safer to do very often - but that was the flue I kept cleaning as it sooted up.
No the chimney gets done & is fine. This is where the oil comes in. It's something which has started to happen in the last 10 years or so. The guy that services the Rayburn, boiler etc. reckons it's the actual oil isn't as clean as it used to be - more carp in it. It's a widespread problem apparently.
It went out again today while we were outDave that sounds horrid with the mink. They are really vicious.
I got told that 'we have our own Mink Officer in Ullapool'. Well I never knew that. I must get out more.
Yep, we live & learn. I've never heard of a Mink Officer.
Anyone who is an animal activist type close your eyes & ears now ....... hubby cornered our problem mink in the shed & shot it. All the neighbours could say was "You cornered a mink?!! I think he was just so darned angry at the numerous chicks, hens & the duck it had killed that he did it without thinking :rotfl:COOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: »I foolishly showed youngest pictures of someone who is selling chichauhua puppies, and now he wants us to have one:eek::eek: I asked him why one of them, as they are sooooo small, and he said it would be a 'Babe Magnet':rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I did tell him 'IF' we had one, the cats would beat it up:rotfl::rotfl:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hope your new chapter is really good for you :beer:0 -

. It's just too darn grotty for words. The geese didn't even want to go out so I have compromised with them and they are in the back garden.
Have to admit, fining the dream very difficult ATM. The boiler issues are really getting to me, I have an eye infection and my skin is sore, I just want a nice warm bath (the heating is one thing, but the bath is really no joke) and its hard to do anything with this weather, for example, The room the dogs sleep in is really yucky, but I cannot throw them out in the garden to give it a good clean. Because the house is cold the cats are following me around and leap on me envy time I am still to steal some of my body heat (its not that cold they are just moping.....I have left the electric blanket on lowest for them so they could stay in bed and keep warm. I just long to open the windows, get some fresh air through the house and get all this heating carp sorted out. Because the weather is so grim I cannot get out into the garden or barn and forget about it.
We are looking at a holiday though. It's a big admission that the stress ATM is probably more than we want to be handling.I can only sympathise. When you're poorly you need to be able to feel warm & relax. Even when well not being able to have a hot bath or shower is grim.

Ooo - nosey me ...... which part. Son gets married tomorrow (yea, I know floods, wind, cold & I'm cavorting in a verrrrrry thin, floaty long dress- still haven't shifted the last bout of sneezing & wheezing & will be asking for a replay) & they're honeymooning over there.
Maggie - Hope you can escape & get back home soon.
 Hi Rummer
Glad to hear Dad's a bit better, alfie. How's your son's foot now?0 -
He was in Milan itsme. We had a law suit against some old landlords which we won. He was able able to combine this visit with work, which was helpful. He has done three countries this week.0

Good about winning the case  Congratulations.
I think your DH is there at the right time.
They've had a long cold & miserable winter, too. The Italians have been almost as bad at talking about the weather as the Brits :rotfl:
The snow is due back in the North on Sun/Mon

Such a shame for the youngsters but I'm sure they'll find something enjoyable to get up to:D

Is that good? I'm guessing busy means lucrative
Did he manage to miss the snow last time, too? This was 13th (courtesy ultimaora)
I'm thinking we should run dates past him before setting off next time0 -

Not more lucrative being busier with travel as he is an employee in a firm with a very straightforward bonus structure which reflects team work not individuals work. But certainly more fulfilling. He has never twiddled his thumbs and found work throughout, but not always terribly interesting stuff.
The travel is a double edge. It breaks up the monotony and for a very cosmopolitan guy like dh its a vent I think he undervalues, especially Paris or Milan/Rome. But anywhere really. To try and put this in perspective with his personality. About fifteen years ago () he was studying late into the night he was fancying some cheese, and proper French cheese. The sort not easily found in UK at all. So he left his halls of residence, left his city and went to France. Ate some cheese, came back went to his afternoon lecture as scheduled:rotfl: he fails to see why I find this endearing and hilarious both.
On the other side of the coin, the travelling involves late nights and early mornings, and is tiring on a punishing work schedule even when you are for and healthy. He came home early today and was almost dropping wit tiredness.
Eta, he says there was snow on the ground in France from the window of Eurostar on Wednesday morning.0 -
I recall a recent post on here about binmen urinating on a garden
Here's is what happened in Malvern
Our oil delivery yesterday was cancelled as driver refused to deliver on H&S grounds. So all the hundreds of deliveries of oil to us and our 20 or so neighbours over the past 30 years by 4 wheel tankers were obviously far too dangerous and should have been refused
Totally useless wimp of a driver
INR cases will be decided in my favour (items were received but buyer hasnt closed cases). Been investigating RM alternatives and selling methods, may well do aggregations of items to justify courier post and tempt bidders. It has worked really well on some recent sales. Think tray of mixed bedding plants instead of individual plants!
Two main RM alternatives seem to be collect+ and myhermes and I was intrigued to see a collect+ link up with TNT to provide international service. Will be checking this out.
Not too bad here, no snow, dryish but cold with odd sleety shower. Everywhere sodden though, deffo no gardening.0 -
Lost a post yesterday but wanted to say to LIR that Alfie's suggestion seemed an excellent way to get a break and some much needed pampering.
And while on subject of hols, Maggie's seems to be character forming . Daft thing is, I was saying to DW a few months back that March seemed to be the new summer ahead of the annual monsoon. In the event I'm glad I didnt get around to booking a week's Uk hols this month!0
