I REALLY wish there was something I could do to help.....

I know you are looking at a holiday, but what about a night away in a nice hotel, see a show or something, or just stay in the hotel room watching tv after a nice soak in the bath...

We talked about that (because I am not meant to fly, but I am going to take all sorts of precautions to minimise risk and we will only go short haul) but we are looking instead at hiring a private villa somewhere. Somewhere we can be noisy and not over heard, where and scare nature not locals, and where we can swim. The restrictions of course re that we cannot just up and go. If we had no critters, or just a coule of pets it would be easier, (one of the perks of no kids) but all the reaponsibilities combined with dh's work schedule mean its not as simple.

He is in Italy this morning and says its really nice, spring like, almost summery, where he is. :(.

Was it only Wednesday we went for that walk and cut the grass?

Tried to do stuff in the poly yesterday afternoon, but my fingers froze after an hour and I gave up. :o

Mustn't complain, because I know others have worse to contend with, but we are back to sodden again, with the spring springing in the hen run. :(

Yes, but not enough time to train it. We'll only be able to manage five days I think, so want to spend them there. (Traveling is uncomfortable anyway, so it's not like most people who can travel a day and feel great the next day.....if I am going to feel rough I want to feel rough and warm and undressed Nd relaxed!

LiR, hope you can get somewhere nice sorted out for your short break. I know just what you mean about recovering from the travel. I used to love journeys when I was still fit but dread now, the recovery time is a PIA if you're only away a few days. Hugs.

After finally making it to caravan, now can't get home! :o Coast road been closed for a while now, due to overturned lorry, plus it looks really awful around Queensferry. Lots of schools closed on Wirral and in Liverpool so guess the roads aren't too good there either!

We've been running the central heating 24 hours a day, plus the gas fire (which seems a very ineffective and useless thing  ) during the day, and the temp in van is justabout hovering around the 55F mark. So I'm sat in bed with my clothes on and wrapped in a scarf and clutching a hot water bottle! :rotfl: OH has just gone into village for further supplies as we had intended to be heading home today. Forecaste is more snow overnight and it getting colder, so we prob stuck here till Sun or Mon.

It's the wind that is the problem with getting the van warm - it's blowing straight at the side of the caravan, from a quarter that we don't that often have gales from. Kept waking up with the van shaking and with the noise of the wind. It's chucking it down too, so if it goes on like this we may find the Pwllheli road flooded when we go! (rolls eyes)

We did have one nice day though, might have been Wed? So here's a Spring picture to cheer you up! ;)

Well the snow has pretty much stopped but we are all being sent home early. Expecting heavy snow overnight but we will see.

    Unlikely to be gardening however!

maggie and all, keep tucked up and warm. Off home now (everyone else has left).

    OMG the weather is freezing..

We are lucky as we only have rain.. ok heavy, cold rain.

Maggie, doing the right thing... stay put... even if it means sleeping with all your clothes on... its not worth risking it to get home...

LIR the holiday cottage that Alfie offered sounds a lovely idea...even if it just for one night...

Just seen a brief update on the news north wales has it bad:eek::eek:

It isn't so cold here today. I survived a couple of hours in the polytunnel this afternoon, whereas I gave up in an hour yesterday. I'm just pootling about, dividing perennials & stuff, mainly for the garden, but there will be some fund-raising sales later in the year.

I don't suppose Pete will be a happy bunny. Every time the river comes up, he has to move stock before it breaches the banks, and if the flooding is bad, it flattens his fences too. :(

Here, the stream was going full pelt, so I wandered up it in the morning, freeing any twigs & leaves that had washed up earlier on the banks. The larger sticks get trapped at our little waterfall, or just below it, while the leaves are mostly swept clean off the property. Either way, clearing-up after winter & the hedging won't take long, and when the water dies down again I can start planting my natural garden there. I can't wait, as apart from bramble removal, there isn't any weeding! :rotfl:

Deffo go for the Beaulieu cottage lir. It's lovely down there. :)
