And NOW we have rain. And a bit pf sleet. Nothing much though.0

Sun this morning, followed by cloud (amazing how quickly living room felt chilly when the sun went in! Despite central heating) followed by sun which is now about to set for us behind houses/trees. Been so great to have some decent light! :j OH has toothache
and went to dentist this morning, has antibiotics now, goes back on Monday. Hope he feels better before then as not been to old home for over a week now with the snow and all.
Mum in Law still in hospital, waiting for short term care home to assess her which they can't at the mo as there is norovirus on the ward. At least it gives OH and BiL a break from visiting as they need to be clear in order to help her out later. Can't even begin to tell about all the carp we've had to deal with over all of this, suffice it to say don't believe a word they tell you about anything to do with care (especially if you're self funding).

As long as it doesn't freeze tonight LIR, or you'll have an ice rink on your hands! Can't even begin to tell about all the carp we've had to deal with over all of this, suffice it to say don't believe a word they tell you about anything to do with care (especially if you're self funding ).
Unfortunately I can believe it and can completely empathise. My mum's been in full time care for 18 months now, and they still spout carp at us! The break will be good for you all, its amazing how you don't even realise how tired you are when you're in the middle of these situations!0 -
And now snow again.....sigh. ( it's not a sigh of frustration though!)
Pipes frozen on the yard, depsite turning off and emptying. Grrr. About two days worth of water left. Cross fingers for a thaw sometime between now and then so I can fill up troughs, eh?
Unlike previous years I am reluctant to bring them into the garden in case of nails/screws from building works (we keep on finding stuff)0 -

Great idea, better than plucking them. Plan has been to go out with the metal detector too...but it's just never ruddy dry enough to make that sound 'fun'0 -

Still v. poorly, not been to work at all this week. DD is now mostly better, she came down with it on the 12th. DH getting there slowly, he's been ill 8 days. Mine started Friday. Can't eat, feel sick all the time from the catarrh. Don't feel well enough to watch tv but can't sleep all day. Poor me"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0

I suppose it's my age, but many friends and relatives seem to be struggling with finding or paying for care homes ATM. However, last week, I was told in confidence of a really interesting moral dilemma in relation to this.....
Lets just say the the person in question is a very elderly surviving partner, now living quite cheerfully in a care home at a distance from their former home. As is often the case, that modest home has had to be sold to pay the fees, and having been priced realistically, it's sold quickly.
Now comes the interesting bit, While clearing the house of furniture, the children discovered a stash of money, all in used notes, which has apparently been hoarded away over many years. Of course most of the notes aren't current, but there is well in excess of £40k. This, in a house that was never famed for the riches on display.
The children don't know what to do. The house isn't worth a lot and Dad's physical health seems reasonable, so it's likely that most of the proceeds will be eaten up in care home fees, leaving, what is it now? ... about £25K.
I've thought of possible 'solutions,' but I've not said anything to anyone. I don't think I should. The children are close to retirement themselves and not wealthy. They don't think their Mum had a clue about this, and Dad is away with the fairies most days.....:rotfl:
Please don't quote this post, as I'll remove it later, but I'd be happy to hear your thoughts!!!!0 -

These exams always seem so important at the time, then when you pass them they're soon forgotten.Alexelisey wrote: »Still v. poorly, not been to work at all this week. Poor you indeed! :A Sometimes it's the body's way of giving you a rest, but most of the time it's just bad luck with bugs.
I had to go into the surgery today to pick up someone's medicine. I felt it was like playing Russian roulette with all those other folk sitting there coughing. I beetled out PDQ and then put alcohol gel on my hands as soon as I got to the car.
