Glad they got home safely, lucielle.

:( It sounds absolutely grim, Alex. Hope you're all over it soon

Been snowing again here for a while so everywhere is white again.

Unfortunately I can believe it and can completely empathise. My mum's been in full time care for 18 months now, and they still spout carp at us! The break will be good for you all, its amazing how you don't even realise how tired you are when you're in the middle of these situations!

Oh Molly, so sorry to hear that. It really gets my goat when they try and pull the wool over your eyes and tell you big porkies about your legal rights. At least OH and BiL have me to keep an eye on these things. I may be too disabled to do much or even visit MiL a lot of the time, but I can find out what "they" are "supposed" to do, which is very different to what they try to do!

OH now has tooth ache, been to dentist this morning and been asleep all afternoon after taking 1st lot of antibiotics. He's been spending hours on the phone the last few (working) days trying to get things sorted out. Yesterday he managed to speak to MiL's consultant, who said she will be going out with NHS care, something the Social Worker said wouldn't happen since she was self funding. Aaarrrggghhh! I think we are all losing the will to live over all of this! (rolls eyes)

There's never enough time. Is it vital for her to pass right now for progress to the next stage? I know when I woke up and realised that I'd wasted 5 years at the grammar school, I went into damage limitation mode and focused on just enough to get into 6th Form. Once there, I 'tidied-up' by re-taking the ones I'd sacrificed earlier....well, some of them! Not physics or chemistry! :o:o

These exams always seem so important at the time, then when you pass them they're soon forgotten. ;)

    :D
Its all modules and percentages. It would be easier doing it now then hopefully less pressure later on. Shes calmed down but seems to be happening more often.

Last time she was flipping out over her Thailand trip (she has to raise the funds herself) managed to get her to put that on the back burner. She's got a few events to do.

I suppose it's my age, but many friends and relatives seem to be struggling with finding or paying for care homes ATM. .

I think it is our age! :( Parents getting old and all that. It's over 5 years since my parents died, and we still haven't got the Estates sorted out... See my "Solicitor slow over probate" thread over on the over 50s forum for details... But looks as if it may finally be coming to a finish soon, have to get my head around it before can post to my thread and hopefully finish that off too!

MiL wants to go home to her flat, it's not feasible at the moment, and doubt that after her up to 6 weeks in care home she will be any more capable. BiL and his wife have taken the brunt of it all, though OH has had to do a lot of running around too. When she fell her carers found her in the morning, she has an alarm thingy that she wears all the time, but didn't press the button. Short term memory shot too. Maybe now UTI is sorted she'll improve, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. But hate to think of her going into care home which she obviously doesn't want to do.

(will edit later if I can remember - begin to wonder if I'm showing signs of dementia too! )

Oh yes, I forgot, it's all different these days. No taking a few books home, mugging it up for a week or two and then doing the exam! :rotfl:

My DD2 is finishing uni this summer, and that'll be it for us with higher education, unless she goes on to do her masters. The dissertation was polished-off in the Christmas hols. I hope I do well! :o;) :rotfl:

They never want to, and who can blame them, but if quality of life at home isn't great, then someone else has to make the first move.

I do believe there is the right place out there for most people, but it's finding it that takes time & shoe leather. They're far from being all the same (thank goodness!) I was despairing after months of no joy, and then I hit on a couple of places in the same week, one of them bang-on for Dad.

My short term memory is terrible, but as I say to DW, it was never great to start with....

They aren't likely to run amok, but it's the exchanging that might be the problem....People ask questions if you wander into a bank with lots of 30year old money! :rotfl:

I am verrrryy careful, alfie, thanks ......... but as I haven't been able to put any shoes on for more than a fortnight (I can't actually remember the date I last went out) it's the others that the snow will catch out. Mine would just be my own natural cack-handedness :rotfl:
