That was how my Dad, then in his late 50s, slipped a disc trying to reach South Molton for work. Ironic, as he never fully recovered and was no longer able to do the job.
In other words, it's never worth it, folks.
Still, I hope your DD reaches her exam safely & on time tomorrow, lucielle.0 -
glad you got home safely Lucielle, and its not too much of a struggle tomorrow...
been keeping an eye on the weather today, for us, m4 and Exeter...looks as though tomorrow afternoon/early evening is looking a bit:eek:, so will just have keep watching the news and make the final decision on wednesday very early morning..

Hi All:j:j
couldn't sleep a bloody wink last night.....sooooooooooo panicking about this craft show... actually looked at the pictures on their f@cebook page:eek::eek::eek::eek: they are sooooooo professional:o
all I got 5/6 of these
with odds and ends of various types of material ( mainly vintage polyester:cool: ) which will be sold by weight, and some individual pieces of wool fabric, laura ashley etc ( not many though)
I thought I had more cotton material for the quilters, but I mainly got the total opp to what will sell
Will have a table with buttons and crap on:rotfl:
I so want to take some crafting grade welsh blankets, but I am worried about the weight in the van, plus it pulling the huge
( heavy) caravan...
ooooo well, we will soon lower the tone of the craft event:rotfl::rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
Ctc, remember to check, check and double check the weather before getting in the van and setting off.
Some parts down south west had more snow last night and are getting more tonight.0 -

thank LIR.. been checking this morning, and will check throughout the day/night.
Its all motorway except the last bit which isn't far off the motorway.
We normally do well with this type of stuff at the royal wlesh spring show, BUT the bulk of our sales there is the welsh blankets..

Wet snow this morning, about two inches sticking, but more forecast overnight. And we still have about 4 inches of snow where uncleared.
Will check shortly whether new snow is likely to melt or whether it needs shovelling. In any case it will be another grit layer on the hill road this afternoon to help deal with the overnight stuff. Really want to keep access open to the highway gritted roads, we've found in the past that keeping on top of the hill road ice/snow clearance is the best way of avoiding being snowed in.
Roll on winter tyres, assuming I can get to the garage to have them fitted :rotfl:
Take care peeps.0 -
It's definitely warmer here this morning. We had a powdering of snow overnight, but that's melting already, though there could be more later.
It's all due to end suddenly on Saturday, so I'd say if you can get down to Exeter CTC, it will be no problem going home again.
The Log Fairy delivered a trailer load of softwood overnight, but snow on a few near the door means that they actually arrived some time after 5pm yesterday. They're larger than normal, meaning that someone was in a rush. That's OK 'cos I can split them....except that it looks like my splitting axe is somewhere under the pile!Well, it was dark down there. :rotfl:

That's good. :T
If they got through in the morning, returning in the middle of the day should be easier. How does the song go? "Things can only get better..."
Hmmm..... just remembered who used that as their theme tune in 1997! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

You probably were at school when the blizzard started; there were three snow falls, Boxing day 1962, the following weekend and 8/9 February 1963. The last two were blizzards and the second one started on Friday?
That must have been when we went to church as my father was away New Year 1963.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
