Seen some good business purchases for me on eBay. Getting hopeful but likely to be a bidding war.
Alfie.....I guess I should ask you if you can get jumping poles at a good length for a good price? I don't need very many.
I also really need to get my finger out when the thaw comes about the fencing for the school. Marine ply I think, wioth stout posts (I'd prefer smarter kick boarding but, beggars cannot be choosers.)0 -

Well it was a lovely afternoon up here, according to my DW. She mucked out the hens and had the polytunnel open.
Down in Barney Rubble I felt distinctly warm, but it was fairly overcast there with only occsional glimpses of that yellow thing.
RAS you're right, the icicles were amazing in '63. We had some real monsters in the quarry, but we would break off smaller ones and have them as lollies.
Dad and I went out in the big blizzard to visit some old people, taking candles and matches etc. I remember that we couldn't breathe very well in the wind-driven snow, so we moved from doorway to doorway through the town. The elderly people we visited were all OK, having had plenty of previous experience. They had Tilley lamps and oil stoves so a blizzard & power cut wasn't going to faze them!
As for digging ourselves out, I was delighted that the drift in the passage from the back door was at least 10' deep, until I realised that we had to make a way through it to the coal house!:rotfl:0 -
Alfie... so glad you are being a pain in the butt ( for landlord)
Rhiwie good idea about blocking them, they might not bid on that item, but might pop up on a future listing...
Went to post some perfume to russia, but the P.O. don't allow perfume being posted abroad now..so will have to refund..

Itsme, that's a real shame. Maybe its a bit like crimbo, where the extra stresses expose previously hidden weaknesses.
Saw our postie on the main village road but we didnt see him make it up our road, despite it being thoroughly gritted by residents. So thats Thursday when we last had post. Sleety light rain atm, so prob ice by morning but, fair dos, VoG council refilled our grit bin today so we've the means to keep the road open unless there are fresh heavy falls.
Took all our large parcels to courier collection point today rather than try to get courier up our hill0 -

what dimensions ????0 -
What dimension jump poles? Um....ten feet long would be long enough (standard is twelve I think). Not sure how think jump poles usually are.
I had toyed with getting the plastic ones, but everyone tells me they are a nightmare and disintegrate quickly in the sun. I don't know why I am worried about sun damage here!0 -
Still snowing, struggled to get home as it had drifted.
Really annoyed with the education system. We've got about 8-9'' of snow and no sign of it stopping. DD1 has got her Biology GCSE tomorrow. The powers that be have decided they are going to get the exam papers to the middle school in the village. They can only do this after 8am when the papers are released. If the papers haven't arrived by 9.00, we have until 10.00 to get them to the school, using the same roads that the school can't get through.
OH and I have taken the day off work tomorrow. OH and another dad and his daughter plus another pupil are going to try and get to the school tomorrow. They're using our 4x4 as its (hopefully) got more oomph.
Fingers crossed we get some respite and they get there!
