Need to decide whether to go for wood or carpet, so confused.
I think it depends upon how the people using it feel about not having carpet, and how well disciplined they are. Some people hate carpet and see it as trapping dirt & germs. I like it in a living room.
My kids and their friends always removed outdoor shoes at the door in our old house, but here the previous owners weren't disciplined and wrecked a really nice hall carpet in what seems to have been a short space of time. It was a really good quality carpet too.:(
For people with young children and/or dogs, I can see the attraction of wood laminate or similar.
Shame about your floors rozee. It only takes about 20mm of cork around the edge of a wooden parquet-type floor to give the room for expansion, but if it's not there......well, you already know!0 -
Architect.....mine is worth every penny. but we called in a favour. His charge, Rozzee, is a bit more than you are quoted.
Re wellies, ctc, I have eschewed them for years now. I weary muckers fropm lidl, but best of all, some boots from derby house Not these but like these

It pays to read through the quality assessment/regulations as early as possible. It may even change the way you imagine layouts & entries of buildings.
Oh no, I'm not imagining any more layouts!
But seriously, I think this would be good to think about/peruse, in case there are minor tweaks we could make, just in case.0 -

We have some very expensive le chameau wellies in the house, they only ever get worn for social things in mud.....and I personally was never a fan of hunters. Bog standard wellies are cheaper to replace when you put a fork through them and muckers or long yard boots give better grip and warmth IMO. My cheap lidl muckers are fleece lined, and not pretty, but so much easier than long boots.0 -

Exactly what I do. Derby house has loads of sales and I only buy from them in sales.0 -
I like those boots LIR... they look comfy around the calf area..
I get muckers in now and again...
edit...

I own a pair of those Derby house yard boots and they provide excellent grip however apart from the foot bit they are not waterproof so not ideal if you are going through deep puddles (as I personally discovered) They are however great in snow and snuggly warm in the coldest of weathers with only thin socks.
Mine were in the sale and a total bargain at thatTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0
