    It must feel great to get your final plans, Dave. It doesn't look dissimilar to our's in concept. We want the same things as you. You've got bathrooms en suite, which is nice. We've compromised en suite for the big family bathroom with en suites upstairs (probably somewhere down the line when we can afford to fit them!)

    I'm begining to wonder if our utility room will end up a Plantroom with all the bits of huge equipment that you need for some of the renewable energy systems.... It's all an evolution. Have to say, I'm feeling pretty weary about it tonight, but that's because I thought I'd finished my yearly accounts and I've just found a load of bitty pieces of paper that need incorporating. I've been impossibly disorganised and unsystematic with my paperwork since I moved here because of all the upheavals and having no space for a filing system/office :{

    Will there be a veranda outside on the south face. Thinking mint juleps and a swing seat in high summer (commandeered by the cat of course!)
    If we ever get our veranda on the south facing side, i want you all to come and drink mint juleps and admire the hill ;)

    The veranda was one of the things that had to go. :(

    We feel that two en-suites is overdoing it, but to get one means building on, so it's not much more to have two. And if it should ever be used as a B&B, they'd be essential, these days. Have to look at all the possibilities, especially if money gets tight after it's done. ;)

    ......But we can still compromise there, if we have to.

    Snap. On both counts.

    We have a beautiful utility room with the equipment at one end, and then a huge cylinder in the other 'internal' utilty room, and looks like we might try linking a second tank which means losing my dresser out there, which is a pita....it was to tack all the tea stuff, some more utility stuff and so on. Plus it's not ugly!

    I want my house back and I feel frustrated because I want to unpack and clean properly :(

    Later could you not add a sort of loggia/ rooved pergola?

    We had one in Somerset, and it was almost as useful as a boot room....different for us with the dogs of course. We also have similar here, but smaller, and we had to make narrowerer and I don't think it will be as useful, BUt, it did mean in the past that there were very few days I could not air washing outside on, and I could feed dogs in wet weather without them getting wet but still being outside .

    Oh yes, probably, but there are so many other things to consider first, including decent hard landscaping so that some of the mud never reaches the house at all.

    And although the architect is sort-of eco aware, I don't think we are going to get all the heating stuff in as neatly as he supposes.
    There will be more changes, I wouldn't wonder, but so long as the outside looks much the same....;)

    I love you lot! We are all so often in the same boat. It's great to know that even if you are (as you suspect) slightly crazy, at least you're not the only one!

    Hearing the stories of "wanting the house back" I'm starting to think that perhaps what seems like insanity at the moment, living in a static caravan when there'a perfectly good house a few yards away, might have its benefits. At least we won't have to live in building site and the build whould hopefully be quicker without five people living there.

    We have our n suites because we are looking at the potential to B&B longer term, Dave.......

    Off to the twins' Christmas Concert today. They are only two and a half, so it should be interesting in terms of performance!

    One of them has decided she "hates Father Christmas". Oh well.... He can be a little scary.
