I own a pair of those Derby house yard boots and they provide excellent grip however apart from the foot bit they are not waterproof so not ideal if you are going through deep puddles (as I personally discovered
) They are however great in snow and snuggly warm in the coldest of weathers with only thin socks.
Mine were in the sale and a total bargain at that
Mine cope fine around field gates and in the barn. I avoid going in to mud deeper that the foot area......no good for me, my boots or the ground!
Thankfully, my horses and usually the geese, come when called!:D0 -
Thank you for the thoughts on flooring. A lot to think about :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Having project managed the re-build of our fire damaged house many years ago, I'd say that having someone else do it might save some time and stress, but there's nothing like hands-on for knowing exactly what is going on.
I was young and naive, so the experience was painful, but it taught me quite a bit.
We are lucky in having builders in the family who will always advise, but they are not here to make day to day decisions. I expect we'll DIY.
To my mind, the most difficult bit will be co-ordinating those doing the build and those installing the energy generation/heating side of things.0 -
weather wise it looks as though its going to be another poo day with loads of rain..:o
this time next week it will be all over for another year...
and it will be our first christmas without the dog:o:o:o
rhiwie, i bet there are times when you are in the house when there is a situation, and you automatically think of the dog..
it will be hard this year, as he allways used to sniffle through the wrapping paper, get in the way, and then just plonk himself down with the look saying, ' I give up' lol....
really do hope choille is ok...
I was thinking we get some lovely new mse'rs popping in saying about their dreams etc, but then we dont hear from them again, so if you are reading please join in, no dreams or questions, thoughts etc are too silly etc.... and I really do love hearing about other people's dream, as i really do know how it feels with the frustration, the depression, and yearning to have a bit of land of your own...and not have a single penny in my pocket, and a table full of final reminders staring me in the face.....the last bit never changes, but at least you have something you have allways wanted...

All the discussion on heating makes me realise how lucky we've been to have oil as a fuel over the past 30 years. Getting an adequate substitute in rural locations really exercises the mind.
Off to the PO with another 4 parcels shortly, all UK for a change. A dealer at the last auction (mainly coins) was bemoaning how his sales had dropped off a cliff and that nobody was spending any more. For us, international sales are taking a greater percentage of total sales and for a few items, say if likely to go to Australia, we list to finish at convenient times for their time zones.
Weather set to be bad today, listings and make do and mend day I think.
EDIT: CTC, yes, we do walk in to the kitchen and look for the dog at times0 -
I agree with CTC it is always lovely to have new people joining us! Please don't be put off if you are not yet living the dream (or unlikely to be) as I live in the city and am building my home and garden into my dream.
We are a friendly bunch (occasionally witty) and very enthusiasticTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
I still visit you often, but sometimes the thread moves so fast I can't keep up with you all!
I shall make it a 'New Year's Revolution'to post every now and then. In fact I may just do an update on Friday to let you all know what is happening in the world of the witch.
