chapel is a NO GO as the tree man actually got inside info for me from the planning dept..;)

no way can a tank be put in within 7 metres of the building . potentially remaing tree roots go 45 ft  thus not a chance on that score.. no one else has made enquiries to him ,so if someones bought it they are gonna have a BIG blip. plot not big enough to demolish and re build [tree roots and consv area + neighbours ] so son walked away :D

Blooming windy now, and that's only my stomach! sad-smiley-067.gifProbably overdid it this morning, so skipped lunch as pennance....:o

Hen no better. Such a shame, as it's Elsie, a slightly lame & timid one which actually lays well for a Welsummer. Wouldn't have any more of those, as ours (from two sources) have been sickly, very boring and rather poor layers. :(

We've located some 8 week old chooks to go with our single Welstralorp hen, however, so we'll pick some of those up in the next day or two. That won't be good news for the two lads...:(

Pity about the chapel, alfie, but even if it was sold for 'community' use they'd need some kind of facilities, wouldn't they? There has to be a bob or two in this for the landowner who lets someone drain a bio-disc system into the nearest field.....simply has to be!

    Compost toilet?

Oh, just to cheer you all up, we had our first delivery of logs today, so it must be autumn......:p

pitty about the chapel Alfie..... but maybe thats the reason its cheap..

Also a pitty you dont live closer as we have a 20 x 10ft market stall, we bought and never used:cool:. only put it up once to see how it went together:rotfl:

Next year I really do want to try and do some different shows etc, was thinking of doing a vw fest, and sell secondhand funky t shirts and surfy type shirts etc...but I think I need to do some reasearch on past shows, and what type of stalls were there..

Went caravan hunting again today.... TOO many at the place we went today, deff boggled, plus we only asked a sale assistant the length of a caravan, and said it was nice, and we couldnt get rid of him, he was like a creeping Jesus around us:mad:

It was a tad on the log side..26ft:D BUT it had an end bed, cream leather seats etc:eek:

We did leave quickly after that, and went to have a look at the caravan we seen yesturday again..

    I've been Money Tipped!
Mainly dh but a bit me too, weeded the baby holly hedge on sunday, and today dh wrestled some weed mambrane over the area. Its had mixed success. But disappointed with the hollies bough t from the tree supplier.those bought from the small local independant garden centre have done really well. Bit worried about winter, i would have hoped they would have grown more. I am worried about too much water run off from the road onto them. We will see. At this stage there is no plan b, so i really hope they pick up. If all looks well next srping i will plant some more into the row, but at this stage feel a bit like might be throwing good money after bad.

Horses are in tonight. In august. Lagoon is still full. I feel reall worried about it.

we have been having some REALLY bad down pours since we came home, the side of the house, and the front garden is practically flooded.....we have never had that happen here before, think the garden is soooo wet from all the water, plus the heavy down pours, its just got nowhere to go,

Had some good sales on ebay tonight, a little girls designer coat went for over £19:eek::eek: really hope they read the discription and know its secondhand..

had some good sales on the business account too this weekend, :T:T so I will be busy packing tomorrow....:rotfl:

    CTC, well done!!

Now if only you'd send a few buyers to your east and Alf would send a few north-west :D

Not really complaining, though I'd hoped that 22 watchers would mean more than 1 extra bid tonight :(. Main item is tomorrow night with 26 watchers to date and a promising price already, hoping for fireworks though!

Started looking through seeds today, to get back on track for productive growing nx year. Will be sowing one or two winter crops in the meantime. Onion crop this year so disappointing compared to previous years.

Its a bl***y nuisance getting older. What perverse git invented arthritis??

Decided to end Elsie's misery tonight, as there seemed little hope she'd pick up again.sad-smiley-061.gif

So, we're two decent layers down and no prospect of more yet, as the new poults will be in our bio security zone over the next few weeks.

I want some hybrids to get us over the winter though. Think DW is coming round to it.;)

Lir, if you think small hedging plants are too small for the location they're destined for eventually, plant them into a nursery bed, like we did with our yews. :)

Perversely, our onion crop looks much better this year, but we really need some good weather to lift & dry them now. After the disappointment with the garlic, they're a bonus.

It remains to be seen if our parsnips, planted late and among a new veg called huazontle, escape the attentions of the carrot fly.
As for the huazontle itself, it's OK as a sort of bland stir fry green, or cooked like spinach. There seems to be plenty of it!

phew... thankfully it has stopped raining, sun trying to come out, but it does have the feel of autumn in the air:o:o

Just seen this link over on one of the threads on the os board

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2194436/Family-food-bills-soar-British-shoppers-face-paying-bread-pasta-meat-devastating-drought-ravages-crops-U-S.html

By all accounts they are saying on the os boards, its being kept quiet in the news at the mo, but maybe the main channels havent cottoned on to it yet..

there is going to be a g20 type meeting regarding it..

I have noticed swede is expensive, or is it me?

I am with you Rhiwie, I def going to sort out my seeds etc for next year.

Instead of planting in the spring, I am going to try autumn planting with the garlic, broad beans, and can you plant peas in the autumn ?

ooooo well I have plenty of hazel/cob nuts, plus squirrel meat ( if we can catch/shoot the bl00dy things:rotfl:)
