Alexelisey, just getting debt free is a great feeling in itself. Doing the work you want, rather than the usual office grind is even better!

Dave, that mowing accident could have been a whole lot worse

Raining here (again!). Wasnt cold in the house last night, about 18C, but the gloom made me look at the logburner and wonder whether to light a fire.

Lightning started tripping the electrics later to remind me to get in some lamp oil and make sure torches are charged.

Been two weeks since our last auction and withdrawal symptoms are setting in. Got a number of Ebay listings finishing over next few days but very little stock left. Knowledge is crucial when acquiring/selling stock so invested in a laptop dongle for research on the move, just got to work out how to use it :o. And swapped DW's clapped out mobile for a new PAYG phone so expect savings on mobile monthly payments from now on.

The gamble we took on DW giving up her job seems to be paying off so far, we havent fully replaced her wages but we are making profits and generating cash AND doing something we both enjoy.

    I've been Money Tipped!
We went to look at window fittings this morning. The ones we thought we liked in the bookare really expensive, but we saw some cheaper ones we liked more but they are the wrong colour. So the question is how we paint iron thats been waxed to look like bronze thats old.....

Raining here. We got 3/4 way through putting a curtain rail up last night so need to finish that this afternoon. Its miserable hiere too. Its an annoying bitty bitty weekend, out this morning, out tomorrow morning. I find it hard to get stuck in on half days.

Still unwell, and as I'm not venturing outside, there's nothing to report. :(

I think it's the first time since being here that I've been properly incapacitated, so really shouldn't complain, but I will!:p

I'm the world's worst patient. DW keeps asking, "Are you sure you wouldn't rather just go back to sleep?" Bah! :rotfl:

Dave, hope you perk up soon, that's one of the symptoms of my illness, and when it first happened I just thought it was something I'd eaten/stomach bug. So it might be worth getting yourself checked if it persists or other symptoms emerge.

Dave - hope you're not getting what I have - whatever that is, t'is nasty & can't go too far from a loo the noo.
Lucky with the trowel & mower in a way - our elderly neighbour nearly broke his nose today getting pulled over with his mower & he's got a couple of crackers of keekers - black eyes. His wife has a hospital appointment on Tuesday so we'll take her. Get a snoop round Inverness & we'll try & price sheeting as it's getting silly waiting for quotes coming in.

Alexelisley - great you are working on getting debt free. That's a truly great thing to work towards. Get a small holding an get yourself back into debt! Only kidding. I couldn't work in an office I doubt.

Rhiwfield - good for you getting a dongle - what's a dongle? It does sound rather rude. I'm so pleased that you are enjoying the auctions - it's great fun & a wonderful learning experience. I darn't go to any 'til the house is ready as last time - only time in years I've been - I bought a massive sofa - that's in where my kitchen will be as there's no where else to store it.
My buying is restricted to charity shops, but I can go over the top in them.

Well LIR & Alfie it's been massive downpours here on & off. The other day someone I know on Shetland had their hill slide towards their house taking out their car, land rover, trees. They reckon if it had been later on in the morning they'd have been out & about & probably killed. They had a month's rain in a few hours.

    The weather's mad.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Alexelisley.... choille is talking THE TRUTH

I slogged my guts out to get out of debt and save... THEN i borrowed and bought a smallholding and need to save to sort things out, and start living the lifestyle I have dreamed of.....so yep up to my eyeballs in debt again...... But It is the gamble I am prepared to take for my dream:D

Well sold my crap at the auction... got a total of wait for it..............£32 before fees:rotfl::T:T so will have to wait a month for the cheque... so going to try and take something every month....

There was a cracking pair of seramas that I started bidding on, I stopped at £10 each, they went for £42 each:eek::eek::eek::eek: but it does show I have good taste:p

Choille, a dongle is something you stick in your laptop usb port to receive mobile broadband. I think :D

And we keep seeing lovely pieces of furniture going for a song, but we havent the van or the muscles to shift stuff, nor the room to store it :(

CTC, well done on the auction sales, its what we do with the stuff we dont want to keep or sell, though usually the cheque is a bit disappointing.

Rhiwie... Furniture is hit and miss, unless you got somewhere to store it, then i would say leave it...as it would be a bulky item to keep around the pace if it doesnt sell..

I would have thought from now on in, it would be toys that would sell well, good quality and makes... so maybe a nose around bootsales might be good, didnt you sell some little tykes toys before?

Bizarre weather here today! We went to a local garden and the weather was glorious. 5 mins after we got home the heavens opened and it has been pouring ever since!

This garden we visited is one of my happy places. It was lovely to see all the different plants and flowers, so many that were thriving even over this dreadful summer that I think I will have to get some for my own garden. They have a small plant sale bit and do a number of guided walks so I think I will go on one with a pencil and paper and get them to tell me what things are. Many are labelled however a few real stunners were not and I have no idea what they are.

Still done nothing in my garden. I keep putting it off. Maybe the garden fairy will come and make it all better ;)
