CTC - hope it turns out okay very soon - insurance companies are dreadful thieves - allegedly.

Dave - The barking dog here was run over a couple of months back & it wasn't us, but boy is it quiet. Dreadful shame for that to happen, but there's a few of us who are less up the wall than we were!

In Scotland SEPA issue guidelines re run off from septics, drains etc & they should be within the boundary of the property. But probably missed the point on that one.

Rhiwfield - they are lovely looking, but what teeth & claws they have. They're merciless killers & if they get into a house ( they often go in during the day & wait) they kill everything. They also steal eggs & the little blighters ran off over a period of time, with four plastic ones I'd put down when the hens were broody. Wonder what they made of them?

Hmmm, would modern day Mara enclosures equate to the old rabbit warrens that the old estates used to keep for food? Don't know if they are bred as a domestic meat source but wouldnt be surprised given the use of guinea pigs as a scavenger meat source.

OTOH, I've a feeling that you didnt have that use in mind :o

Advance warning for alfie: I've had another of my 'accidents,' so put your tea down now!

Yesterday, having decided that I'd been a complete fool by planting comfrey on the emankment below the polytunnel, I decided to dig them out. The nearest tool was a lovely little hand trowel I found here and re-handled a month ago, but I decided that would probably get broken, so I placed it carefully to one side and went off to find the big fork with the reinforced handle.....

The big fork got all the plants out just before lunchtime, without leaving much, if any root behind. :)

Afternoon came, and having looked at the weather for today, I decided to cut as much grass as possible, so off I went with the mower.....

You can guess the rest....Long grass, nice little trowel with plain wood handle - I didn't see it until it shot out of the mower and headed skywards, right into the curved side of the tunnel, where its new shape made two jagged cuts about 7cm long.

Polytunnels mend, but the trowel won't. In a way I'm relieved, because having a 'perfect' tunnel is just asking for a tree to fall on it or something, but I'm glad it's not on the side I see from the house. :(

No danger of mowing today. Peed down, so indoors fitting the new oven.

Looked forward to a tandoori with friends tonight, but got the squits instead....Surely that's the wrong way round? Can't I do anything properly? :o

    Davesave I shouldnt laugh BUT:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

we treated ourselves to an Indian last night...needed something to cheer us up..

End of the month farm auction today, soooooooo got a boot full of crap, oops i mean VERY desirable collectables of no use what so ever stuff;) to put into the auction, porb get a £ a box, but its better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, and every penny counts...

Just going to finish my cuppa and yell for hubby to get out of bed, and then we are off...

Taking the new car as it has a towitch, just incase there is a cheap caravan there...

Why I want a caravan asap, is that when we have our pigs we can stay there for the whole weekend, and if we are in a caravan we can have 24/7 view of the pen and pigs, so we can watch what the walkers and their dogs reactions are to them....

We could rough it in the house or one of the vans, BUT i want a total clear view so i can bee noisey:D

Dont forget it free listing today - tomorrow and monday.. going to have a bash tomorrow/monday

Just checking in, I always keep up with what others are posting but have very little to report myself. Still plugging away to be debt-free by the end of the year, which will mean I can consider throwing in my office job to do something much more interesting instead. I have very itchy feet now, and have seen a few suitable prospects on the net, but without getting rid of the debt DH isn't taking me too seriously yet - although I get the feeling he also wants to be away from here. I'll convince him soon, I expect! :j

Choillie, so sorry to hear about the attack, it's always devastating to lose poultry to senseless killings like that. Hope you get better soon from your health concerns.

CTC, hang in there. It seems to take forever to get insurance claims sorted out. Mine, I think, was relatively quick - around three months until that side was complete and I had my excess back. I'm still waiting to hear regarding my compensation. The other side have now had the 15 working days to consider what we've asked for, so I would expect to hear something this week. I've not seen you mention anything further regarding injury, so I hope there wasn't anything lasting!

Hugs to all from my little rectangle of suburban Kent:beer: Enjoy the BH weekend, hope the sun smiles on you at least once!
