Oh we had one built-in, though the original gave up the ghost between exchange and completion, so we sourced an eBay special very early on.

That broke down a couple of times, but at first was just wires coming off terminals etc. Then the top oven element went, followed a few months later by the bottom one....so we took the hint. It's wasn't even that old, but it behaved like cars from the same country! ;)

We have the Aga half the year, and I bought a swish combi oven instead of a plain microwave when the other one started playing up, just in case. But I like a 'proper' oven and I'm a bit OCD about keeping the microwave clean, so won't roast in there etc. :o
  • went to have a look a a ford KA today advertised at £300 and the pic looked great, when we got there the side that he did not take a pic of was full of rust, especially round the petrol cap, with loads of filler:rotfl: so good job he hadnt come out to see us, as we left rather sharpish, so on the way back we seen some cars for sale in a garage, so stopped and had a nose....so we bought a ford maverick...51 plate was advertised for £950, had it for £750:D:T

so we pick it up tomorrow....as we want him to tax it for us ( we will pay for that) as otherwise we will have the rig-ma-role of waiting for the log book to be put itot our name before we can tax it etc...Hubby is pleased, as he thinks i would have hated the KA, as i am used to driving the vans and the range rovers etc... He said the it would be like dragging your rse on the road, I think he means that because they are small low to the ground cars :rotfl:

LIR.... sorry been meaning to book the courier for the door, so will def do it tomorrow....

I am starving, so off to have a midnight feast:cool: or a bowl of cereals:D

i was reading a humerous article today...gist was that one should keep going/concentrating on the job/jobs you intend to do, keep up momentum.....
biggest downfall ?? a cup of tea.... why is it all concentration on whats done and whats needed goes straight out the window when a cup of tea and a biskwit presents itself ...

    NOW WHERE DOES THAT RING A BELL....CTC ? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

well done on the car front

You cant beat a nice cup of Tea, especially in your own favourite mug...:rotfl::T:T made with a quality tea bag...sugar and t bag in first, then boiling water, leave for a few seconds, then stir, add milk, then stir again, fish the tea bag out with the teaspoon, and then squeeze the tea bag against the teaspoon, to get the last bits of flavour and colour out....cant be to weak or too strong...:D:D and must have full flavour and depth:j

    I could be a tea conisure:p

thanks Aflie... pleased with the car, totally brasic now, but started listing again this week on fleabay... so hopefully some pennies will come in from that

I can't afford to buy so am looking to rent. I've done the following:

    Obvious things like Zoopla, Rightmove.
Estate agents / Letting agents who don't use the above
Local papers - both looking for ads and advertising in them
Newsagents/ village shop windows both looking and advertising in them
    Word of mouth
National Trust/other stately homes and similar big houses in the areas I want.

Can anyone think of any other methods of finding somewhere to live out the dream? What have I missed? Ideally I'd want a farm cottage or similar but in my areas so many are holiday cottages now.

I have quite a large geographical area to cover, so may be missing some things, and I can't get round all the village shop windows every week. There used to be a great little newsheet called 'In the sticks' which had mostly property to sell but also some rentals. It was great but sadly no more.

Anyone any creative ideas they can suggest? Moving house was my project for this year but somehow life got in the way. Must try harder.

    Thanks for any thoughts

    Liz

Maybe the classifieds in "The Lady" magazine? http://www.lady.co.uk/home/classifieds

Well, you certainly know what you want.....err...I think! :rotfl:

By the way, a Maverick is a Nissan Terrano in disguise, so bound to be good!:p

We should be out purchasing our next car, but too tired after yesterday to face a drive up to Brum in the van. That's the sort of lengths we go to, as prices are pretty loaded around here. :(

    We are after a Honda CRV, which is the 4 x 4 for people who don't like 4 x 4s. ;)

Anyway, whatever we get, it's bound to feel wonderful, compared with slugging around in an ex-Transco generator van!

Test drove a tractor today. Second hand of course! Its going to have to happen some time.

Had a killer quote for fencing bqck, it nips it in the bud for this year entirely. £2k for the length we wanted done as 'first attack'.

Then also need to think about getting someone for special girl to love when old girl leaves us soon. My mother thinks i should buy her a baby to love, but i just cannot find one i like that I can afford. :(
