dont know whats wrong, but since coming back from the bulldog bash, I have no energy or umf....cant be @rsed to do anything, and really have got to push myself... ir is it because i havent had a biscwit in over a week:eek::eek::rotfl::rotfl:
I am trying to cut out junk food....and eat a bit healthier...like this morning i would normally have a cup of tea with a handfull of biscwits, but i have been having a piece of brown bread toast ( a little bit of lurpak lighter:cool:) with a mashed banana on top...
I have gone from semi skimmed to that 1% milk, and i have been putting supermarket;s own brand ( same as philidelphia) extra light onion and chive in the mash potato instead of lashings of butter...
and have been treating myself to ONLY 1 little chocolate roll:cool:
Dont know how long it will last, but i need to try and lose a bit of weight to get fit for these pigs we will be having soon:T
also trying to get back to being really savvy with the shopping as its getting out of hand... with all the price rises...
was watching countryfile last night, and that Adam guy was saying his grain harvest is down by 20%...and or its a lower grade.. so you know exactly what will happen over the coming months, more flipping feed and food costs:(Work to live= not live to work0 -
i think more will be lower grade than is lost tbh. Have been watxhing the fields aound here, i know some of the farmers but not all of them. My neighbours got theirs (destined for their own animals) in, but its a bit lower grade, conversely ofcourse, peoples silage clAmps are full to bursting already...
The biggest immediate local farmers have got theres in well from what i saw, i did not walk much this summer, so did not keep an eye on the state of the heads when they harested, but.....i think they will be very happy with the higher prices.0 -

The Ukraine Purple, as you've found out by the sound of it, you have to pick before they go purple, a sort of off colour green. I found them so difficult to get the picking time right, I stopped growing them.
The early toms were 3 weeks later for me this year, so only marginally useful. I scrap them when GD come on stream, because they're hardly attractive.
The Ukraines are fine for cooking activities. They split easily when really ripe.
Hoping the Marmandes I grew for a friend turn out OK. I'm lucky having a friend who likes making chutneys & jams etc...0 -
Headline in a local paper suggests that bank holiday will be a washout! So whats new this summer?
Belatedly sorting out winter fuel, didnt source logs for seasoning earlier this year so buying 5 cubic metres tomorrow of seasoned and topping up oil as well. Latter is costing just under 60p per litre + Vat, about 8p a litre higher than when I should have bought it
So a few aches and pains expected after the logs are stacked.0 -

I am with you on both counts! Trying to shift weight by eating less junk and spending less time on the couch.
We also need to cut down the shopping list although at £50/week for 3 people and 3 cats including toiletries and household bits as well as food I am unsure where else to trim.
That is why I am so keen to get on top of the garden and grow as much as I can so we can trim more off the bills.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
hi folks.......
right , i need help ![yeh yeh , i know
]
good news is looks like 2 out 0f 3 trees CAN go , had long chatwith chap and he agreed with me they were dying/dodgy/in the way....:rotfl::rotfl:
water can be sorted [accosted a waterboard man going up the road...:rotfl: ]
BUT who knows what about "waste disposal" ie sewarage....etc
there is NO mains waste in the road so have to get something in a confined spaceaprox 18ft x16ft space... how far from a building does it have to be ? is there anything on the market that is small and beats all annoying regs...:o
this is the make or break of the chapel purchase
ive been out on my bike this T time to visit the lord and lady down the road for crokette on the lawn... [cant spell it let alone play it..:rotfl::rotfl: ] but i have an ulterier motive for being social
my best friend was splitting wood last night and ended up whacking herself in the eye with what she at first thought was a lump of wood but turned out to be the actual splitter handle...:o she has a corker of a black eye today and has grazed the actual eye. she's a nurse....:D0 -
Alf, see para 1.58, but I stress that I know very little so you do need to take informed advice.
IF the info I've linked to is right a cesspool needs to be no closer than 7M from the habitable part of a building and within 30M of road access for emptying.
It seems a septic tank would need to be assessed for liquids run off (same document)
Hopefully someone who knows what they are talking about will post0 -
Alfie, what about a bio disc system?
Is there a watercourse behind that it could run into from that? Or maybe a friendly farmer would allow it to run under his field for a "suitable cash sum?" It wouldn't cause pollution or even much disruption, as pipe laying could be done through a slit trench.0 -

i met the neighbours today ....:o they seemed quite pleased that "well of course they will have a hard job selling that place...." and me finks any encrouchment of any waste water of even the purity of a mountain spring via the hedge [which would be hacked back...;) [ line would be met with similar reaction to them being bit by rabid dogs...:rotfl::rotfl:
which is why i thank you for the info and i will get onto it:rotfl:

Isn't it getting dark early now?
I had the call tonight, telling me what part I've been assigned in the next Panto......"Surely not," I thought, "that's in February!!!
Anyway, I'm to play a female.:o Giving no clues away, but "We are not amused!";)
Thanks for the reminder about heating oil, rhiwfield. Logs will start to arrive automatically, but the tank is fairly low....
Speaking of logs, I looked at the huge pile of waste leylandii in the field today and decided there are at least 3 bonfires there. Trouble is, they're in one pile!
If don't get too much rain, on Thursday the drainage contractor will be at last doing an exploratory dig along the distant neighbour's septic tank pipeline that gave trouble..... last February!
That drainage PDF looks interesting ,but it won't load for me...:(0
