I head the Leeds festival has been cancelled..
Maggie i cant remember them saying wakefest was cancelled on the itv wales news?
I am just hopeing that the weather does change, ready for the bulldog bash in August.... even though the stratford race course has spned thousands in drainage for the main part of the land, near the drag strip, the main camping area is like a bog bath when we have heavy rain... but that doesnt effect us;)
Even though it rained last night, the heavy rain must have missed us, as it wasnt as bad as the weather man said it would be like...
but we do have today to go.. not raining at mo...Work to live= not live to work0 -
They're giving serious alerts for the river Taw near here, which means Pete will be struggling to find space for his animals.
The ground water up here isn't that bad yet; at least a foot to go in the foundation inspection holes, before it reaches the levels achieved earlier this year.0 -
Think the second lot of wet has come further south than expected. Yesterday was pretty dire here although it stopped in the evening. We were expecting another load today but right now we even have the old bit of sun.
Stuff absolutely batter by the weather - have more or less stripped one side of a redcurrant bush that has collapsed under the weight of fruit and water.
Raspberries wrecked - sodden and included to rot. really only fit for jam.
Am hoping the show still goes on next week.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Found these. More the sort of thing you want?
We used brass sleeves like these with black wrought iron sconces. The real candle ones are just the black iron.
I like the brass ones, i can see how they would look beautiful in your home. Would male ours look shabby.
Those darker plastic ones mit be a compromise i could make if i cannot find beeswax look alikes, do you know whete they are from?:)
Itsme, you ate a google demon! You find anything!:T0 -
I hope those of you in bad areas are ok today and in the future.
We've been very lucky and most of the really heavy rain has missed us. We had about an inch yesterday, but we've coped with that OK.
It's our village show today, I haven't been to look at the other entries yet, But I've entered nothing, literally have very little to enter, so not bothered this year.
I've entered some eggs, but that's it.Itismehonest wrote: »

Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

but these people from Peterborough seem to do a large bespoke card range. It may be worth giving them a call.
Actually, in one room in our place I've swapped to painted tubes made from the inners of Kitchen rolls0 -

Or somewhere where they couldn't be clearly seen.
:rotfl: Which is why we went for more "period" materials - brass & iron. Still suitable for a dungeon, though0 -

No iron here, all warm metals, but bronze not brass. Brass would be too shiny for our less elegant finish.
I loved the real candle lit ones alfie showed to us, and was 100% keen on them, but have agreed to alternatives for practicality. But will not do it til we find the right ones.
The lights we have up are horrid....infact, i have taken fown a coue of horrid opld fringed lampshades today. Dunno where to dispose of them.0 -
Davesnave...fingers crossed that things dont get any worse for pete.... If things get worse, could pete bring some of the animals to your fields for a day or two, until things get better?
Well the JCB guy turned up:T hubby is up there now with him... he said there is no way we could have cleared it by hand, he said the amount of 'crap' that has been dumped on that little piece of land, and then been covered by 30 odd years of over growth dying back etc.. Hubby did say that some parts need to be done with a shovel and wheel barrow ( bits around the trees etc, that the jcb bucket is to big to get close to) so will go up later and take some pics..Work to live= not live to work0 -

Pete could ferry animals up here, but then he'd lose the hay crop!
Know all about buried crap; got a first in it after buying this place. At least you are like us in having a van & trailer, so you can collect it in dumpy bags and offload at the tip gradually.
I keep thinking we've taken our last load, and then....:o more is found. We are even making a bit of our own now.
Clearing up a bit here.0
