I loved the real candle lit ones alfie showed to us, and was 100% keen on them, but have agreed to alternatives for practicality. But will not do it til we find the right ones.
The lights we have up are horrid....infact, i have taken fown a coue of horrid opld fringed lampshades today. Dunno where to dispose of them.
Why don't you phone someone like this
who makes bronze tubing & ask if the dimensions you'd need for the candle tube would be possible to buy - either cut to size or by the length?0 -
Pete could ferry animals up here, but then he'd lose the hay crop!
Know all about buried crap; got a first in it after buying this place. At least you are like us in having a van & trailer, so you can collect it in dumpy bags and offload at the tip gradually.
I keep thinking we've taken our last load, and then....:o more is found. We are even making a bit of our own now.
Clearing up a bit here.
Anyone who out junk in the ground ranks me is not a small hilder but a scrapyard merchant or one of those concrete recyling chaps.

at the moment we have just moved it all down to a far end of the land, which we will not use in a very long time ( thats even if we do get round to using it) it would cost us a small fortune as there is the dreaded Asbestos in it...) but we will slowly get the scrap metal/wire out of it, and weigh it in eventually..
Dont know what is wrong with me today, just totally pooped. no energy at allWork to live= not live to work0 -
Getting bored of looking for lighting now, but these might be interesting.

Still not what i really want, but will think about them for a while. After itsme sent me to america i have found they have much nicer traditional ones over there, with the sort of beeswax testure i like too, like rolled candles a bit.0 -

From her recipe book
1 kg blackcurrants
1 pint water
3.5lb sugar
Put blackcurrants and water in a pan, bring to boil and simmer gently until the fruit is soft and pulpy (skins will toughen if the fruit is cooked too quickly) Test for pectin, it should give a very firm clot, if not simmer a little longer
Add sugar**, stir until dissolved, then boil rapidly until setting point is reached, stirring occasionally. Cool slightly, the stir. Pour into hot sterilised jars and cover.
**heat sugar in a col oven 140C befoere adding to pan it will dissolve more quickly
Then make some scones, whip some double cream, spread on the jam, pretend its summer and scoff the lot0 -

I still haven't caught my rabbit. The trap doesn't seem to have worked so far, but it's a brilliant trap, it works really well when I poke it with a stick.
I've come to the conclusion that the bait I am using (apple) isn't on this bunny's like list, either that or it's some kind of Einstein bunny.
So I've done the only thing any sane man would do, who's veg is being eaten. I've bought some rabbit treat drops from a pet shop to use as bait.
My DS 2 in the shop tried to tell the man it was to catch a rabbit and he just said "yes cats and rabbits are nice", I didn't try to explain, in case they refused to sell them to me :rotfl:
DS has also taken to going round with his toy pirate gun, explaining to anyone who will listen, that he is going to shoot the rabbit.
Either start them young, or child cruelty, the jury is still out.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Interesting.
You'd need to be work out the overall light in the room, I think.
The 7W might be fairly low if they're the only source - depending on how many bulbs you use, of course.
Are you having a central or ceiling light? We haven't. So we've used 8x13W (although at the moment we've got ordinary 40W candle bulbs in) plus the various real candles.0 -
Lotus.... hubby is ordering more pellets as we speak:D
This afternoon, every time he seen some nuts forming he was breaking them off the trees:rotfl: I dont know why becuase there are loads of trees/bushes etc
But hopefully they will be easier targets when they got a gob full of nuts:rotfl:
Rhiwie...thanks for 'nicking' the recipe out of mrs rhiwie's cookbook:D will have a go at that tomorrow sometime, how many 1lb jars do you normally get out of a kg? or do you scoff it so quickly with the cream and scones, it doesnt see the jars:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0
