It's a bit rough here & wet but, so far, no real torrential rain or incredibly strong winds. I think we may get worse overnight.
I have had a horrid thought
No, not about the torture of planning officers, estate agents or timber thieves - although I might go back & revisit that
Do you realise, Daydreamers, that next week is the longest day & the nights start to draw in
No, go away! Not amused.
Miserable rainy (& so dark) evenings will just become dark, miserable (& possibly rainy) evenings :wall:
Message to anyone with anything resembling summer ........ Go on, gizza bit :rotfl:
Oh well, it's given us a good excuse to watch some Le Mans preparation.0 -

Its like a winter storm here, and the ground is so wet much more rain and we'll be sea sick.
Dh is on a late train out and have to say, not looking forward to driving in it.0 -
You could always wear your riding hat & take the colander along as a spare, LIR
No, seriously, take care. It sounds like it's not the weather to be out in.0 -

That's how we're seeing it here. Sticking my head out the window, it seems relatively calm now and the ground water isn't lying in my foundation inspection holes, which are over 3' deep.
In other words, it's just been another dull and windy day with a few heavy bursts of rain. There looks to be more wind and wetness to come in the next few days too, but we're not sodden, nor in imminent danger of being blown away yet.
Lately, I've been blessing the new polytunnel, which doesn't flap about or act like a wind tunnel like the old one, but in spite of its superiority, we have nothing resembling a ripe tomato!
Pete visited this afternoon to inspect the hay crop. I was full of trepidation, but he said it was well up to expectations. He showed me there was more good quality grass beneath the longer fronds, so I shouldn't judge by how tall it is. Well, I know size isn't everything.....so that makes sense!:D
Anyway, he's going to cut it as soon as the weather settles. Hmmm....
Hello to RuthG, and good luck with your future croft purchase. It's a real downer when a property that ticks the boxes gets away, but ultimately it may be that you will see something better/cheaper, especially the way things are at present!0 -
Funny enough Itsme, hubby and I were sying last night its being a poo summer, and that we should start looking/collecting/cutting up wood, as I think the fire will be lite more, think we are going to lite it tonight, as the dampness is making the place feel cold.
Got a young girl coming to work today, buying some bits, very creative, makes one off pieces of clothes out of old curtains etc.... really clever, anyway, so said she would help me with a website.....I have tried in the passed, but failed:o, even though i can find my way around the old puter, i am not really a puter nerd:D....but i have had a go at one free website, and it is looking good....if anyone is intersted in doing themselves a free website, which does ahve a shopping cart too, try out weebly...
Youngest has got his last gcse exam today, and thats it... no more school... flip my babies are not babies anymore:o...
He doesnt want to go to collage, he just wants to see what happens, he does have an unpaid saturday job, which has given him the odd paid days work, so will see if they can offer him anything later on...Work to live= not live to work0 -

.....And I must try not to buy too much stuff from there!
ATM I'm winning on a computer like the one that's just died on me. I'm hoping I can resurrect it. My new one performs brilliantly, and it was a real bargain, but it has a cooling device for the chip inside, which blows air out, makes my legs cold and I end up with chilly feet!!! :rotfl::rotfl:It will be no good in the winter.
And yes, we are still running the wood burner. The good news is that we now have quite a lot of two year seasoned wood stacked.:) The bad news is that I still have to cut it up......
Not a very productive day today. Done a bit of this and that, but the wind fairly messes with the old brain and I couldn't settle to anything.0
