.....And I'm still here, despite being in the polytunnel during an amazing thunderstorm yesterday!
I figured the tunnel would act like a giant Faraday cage, so I felt safe enough, but the amount of rain falling kept me there anyway.
Later, we went out for a run up to Exmoor, where we were able to sit in the sunshine and watch a similar storm crossing the area where we live. Down there, the rivers & streams had turned to torrents, but up on the moor they were at normal levels. Quite an unusual set of conditions.
There's a strange round 'object' in one of my photos of the Jubilee beacon celebrations, hovering over the beacon itself....Unfortunately, I still haven't put a photo program on this computer, so I can't download it yet, but when I do, I'll post it. Yeah, I know, what a tease I am! :rotfl:
Yep, not bad yesterday. Sunny at the moment, too, but thunderstorms are due later today or so we're told.
On the moor there can be completely different weather in neighbouring valleys. It all depends from which direction the weather comes in & which hills it follows or hits first.
Which part did you visit, Dave?0 -

They might well make a better job of things than we're doing0 -
Lir, sorry to hear about your barn doors and the chooks, must have been really frightening.
Dave, I think I can imagine your lawnmower antics having just seen a motorway maintenance guy do a wheelie on his GT lawnmower
CTC, just think about all the extra light you'll have with that big tree gone.
Alf, got the first item for the next box
Anyhow had a couple of days in Cheltenham as an anniversary break and popped into the Sunday carboot at Southam Lane to kill time while we waited for the appointed time for the short let property.
So what on earth made me buy a spinning wheel from a nice stallholder!? :rotfl::rotfl:
I feel an Ebay listing coming on
Moday we woke up to steady rain, but we decided to walk round Cheltenham anyway. It rained, and rained, and rained a lot more, the brolly started dripping inside, coats and trousers got soaked, shoes wet, feet blistering. It didnt stop raining until this morning, just glad to be home to dry out!0 -

Your description had me laughing like mad. More importantly it seem like the mower is able to tackle the tougher jobs that you want to do.
We have avoid the worst of the storms this last week or two although a few trees came down. Nothing quite like the 2007 floods up here thankfully although I have my fingers crossed for a friend near Mac.
However, apart from the 10 days at the end of May, it has been a dire "summer". Overcast, cold and generally miserable. Things are not growing well, except grass!
The bees are struggling, shut in for weeks at a time by the poor weather (10-12 degrees) then swarming like mad when it got hot (25-28 degrees). The next cold spell meant that a number of the virgin queens did not mate, so the hive started to decline.
Thankfully we have two good queens, one hive making honey and another looking good. We are trying to re-queen the other big hive with a frame of brood (this allows them to raise an emergency queen). Will see if this has worked next week. Another pi$$ing weekend due but hope to get some gardening done before then.
Oh well.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

 You went to Dulverton & it didn't rain?!!
It's known for raining for 50 out of 52 weeks of the year so you must have picked one of the few good days0 -
Found a good vet at last, hurrah! I have asked him to come and look into special girls stiffness next week.
Builders are coming on friday for i hope the last time before we make a decision and let them at it.
Have tile samples for bathroom arriving tomorrow. I am getting excited.

Hi Rhiwie...
sorry you got wet while you were away, but at least you had a break, and a spinning wheel:D
Yep cutting down that huge conifer in the corner of the garden, has really made a difference, BUT someone has been 'nicking' some of the wood:mad: I didnt pay £800 odd for the trees to be cut, maintained etc on the lane for some twonk to steal...
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO going to look at some sort of security storage solutions..
forget metal, it seems as though wood thefts are the 'in' thing now:mad:
I think i mentioned it, but they have started chearing the land etc for the supermarket... they are starting at 7am in the morning:mad: add this carp weather, and it really is turning out to be a naff summer.....
Plus our stupid dog of dopieness ( doberman who is 10 in august) isnt very well, generally not his bouncy, barkie self....
Wish Rozee was here, as i could ask her how much she was paying for the jcb, they hadWork to live= not live to work0
