Very rarely do I regret buying a good tool, but I frequently regret buying a cheap one........ and still I sometimes do it. But then you do have to look after them.
Agree with this.
Just a thought on moving stuff round the garden, you can use a tarp to drag large piles of stuff (2 person job), very easy to shift over grass and put on a large compost heap. Excellent for hedge trimmings, conifers clippings etc0 -
Alfie you are lovely! If I am honest I have no personal experience of choosing a fleece but this site has some advice in sheep speak
Lostinrates when I spin up the fibre I then crochet it into lots of different things. I would love to be able to knit properly but I am very slow

re trailers. ours is about 6 x 5. it has all 4 sides removable, albeit the corner pillars remain. its so handy when something is u bit too wide. i just take the relevant side off and proceed to scare the pants off other road users with my "load".:D
i will check what make it is tomorow. its not a cheapy but tough as old boots and very easy towing.. recomend them.:)0 -
Ifor Williams was always thought to be a good make of trailer.
We have a small trailer which attaches to the tractor of the ride-on mover. It comes in really useful for carting things around the land.0 -
If we can be of any help on the trailer front let me know, we have a dealership for Batesons.

Rhiwfield.......... super...cyber...snogs.....We arnt too far away from you, so if there is anything you need, or need help with us give us a shout......
Hopefully in the next 2 - 3 weeks, when we have the keys to the new place everything will be ok, and you can come and give it the rhiwfield once over... and give us some ideas on the garden etc:beer:
The Budget yesturday made me cringe a bit..... the government are trying to stimulate growth yet.... they put duty on fags and booze again.... there def wont be any growth in pubs...and pensioners and youngesters will get a raw deal too...
I know there is allways going to be budgets that not everyone will agree with....
Some times i just feel there should be a legal away of opting out of society/rat race....and not being punished with all these bloody taxes.... flip if there was a way of taxing farts they would:rotfl:
LIR.... on the business ebay account, there will be a mixture of vintage, every day clothes, workwear, bedding etc....
Was talking to a friend of ours who have kept chickens for years, and have had a animal feed supplies, before he sold it to semi-retire.....we were talking about the price of feed, and the quality of it too, ..........so to cut along story short, I am going to phone the makers of farmgate food up today, ( they are not too far away) and see what their min order is for trade, and prices etc... and see if a few of us can get together and put an order in, and htey can just chip in a few quid for the fuel for the van ( as we will pick it up).
I know shops dont make much on sacked foods, but even if we could save 50p a sack its something...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Plastic wheelbarrows: our pink one is fine, so long as I don't throw rocks into it, but you'll need two anyway. The problem is that very few barrows have decent tyres. When we get a puncture, which doesn't take long with cheapo tyres here, we substitute a trailer tyre.
With trailers, it depends if you are going to be carrying stock like pigs or sheep in them etc. If you are, then a decent size GP 8x6 trailer with a alloy top you can add is probably the best minimum compromise. However, I'm not sure if you can do that without removing the ladder rack, that you'll need if you want to carry long items, like rails for post & rail fencing etc.
Of course you can always get stuff delivered, but with wood that risks being sent a few (or even a lot! ) of dodgy bits. I like to select my own, and DW even more so.....though she doesn't actually pick out gravel individually when we order that!:rotfl:
I agree with rhiwfield about the tarp for moving stuff in the garden, or preferably builders' dumpy bags. Use them all the time to dry out nasty stuff in the open end of the barn ready for burning. Two bags of semi-dead nettle roots about 1/2" thick last week. BTW, I hope things pick up for you too, rhiwfield.
Went to see our panto DVD last night, which was a hoot. Of course, none of us saw it properly all the way through. There's a USB stick of professional quality pictures being passed around the village so when it arrives here I will post one or two. How did yours go in the end, alfie? Was it "all right on the night?" :cool:0 -
Hope things pick up for you very soon, rhiwfield. Sorry to hear about choille's wether too.:(0

Re builders bags....
I use them on the tow bar of the car for poo picking. Far from ideal, but better than wheelbarrow from far away, we would spend hours walking back and forward!
I cannot empty them, so that has to wait till dh is here.0
