The pics would be useful, though. Thank you.
On the housing front, MIL and I had a look at all the out houses at the bungalow and there are quite a few that are far from entirely rotten, in fact. The old man was a master carpenter so what he made was made with good materials and well put together - but they must be years old... We're thinking maybe OH can combine or repair what's there. There is definately a lovely place for any water fowl to be too, eventually. In the dell with the stream where it pools in a couple of places. Before that, there has to be good fencing.... It's all very circular, at least in tuerms of what needs to be done before we can do anything really interesting like get a menagerie! :rotfl:0 -
Nice & sunny here, but....
I'm in the loft, fixing a faulty shower extractor fan....or probably installing a new one because there is nothing to 'fix!'
ATM I'm guarding the 'phone....
Outside, someone is buying a eucalyptus. Word hasn't entirely got around that we're closed.:o
My hawthorn seedlings are up, a whole year earlier than they're supposed to take, but that's because I planted the berries quickly, in December 2010. There's enough for a hedge.
Also found the Pineapple mint. It's not doing much! Will investigate later...One has definitely been weevilled to bits.
Oh, and 3 double geraniums (not pelargoniums) came today from a company I ordered from last spring/early summer. I'd forgotten! One was so small I took a photo in case I need to name & shame. There are only 5 double flowered geraniums in existence and I have four now.....or maybe only 3 if this midget dies on me...
PPS. The hen is well, long live the hen!0 -

Huzzah to the hen!
I want an extractor fan.
Hope you will post pics of the double geraniums. Are they as tough as normal ones? Dh is obcessed with johnson's blue for some reason i do not quite get. And i am not convinced he would be able to identify it, think he likes the name,:D0 -
Glad the hen is happy, Dave.
Geraniums are one of the plants that bring me out in a rash. Sadly, good old-fashioned cranesbill is fairly rife around here which makes trying to dodge it when weeding a bit of a b.0 -
Good for the hen
I went round the Olympic park today with work, they have cleared & detoxed the river Lee & the benefits are really starting to be seen as water fowl are returning to the area, saw a beautiful swan. They banged on about rehoming 2000 newts.... What about all the pregnant cats, cats & kittens they murdered by reneging on their agreements to let animal rescue charities in before they bulldozed despite all our petitions & letters.... I didn't say. Thought I had better try & keep my job really. Balancing ethics & trying to get to the dream is hard sometimes.0 -

I watched a programme on the Tube last night and it gave me the total heebeejeebies. I really don't think I could live that life anymore, although I don't think I lived it at the time. I reckon I was going slightly mad, just didn't see it!
My babies (new seedlings) are starting to come through. Nothing too ambitious as we don't have a permanaent home right now, but I'm going to go up to the house tomorrow or next week when my mum comes and attempt to clear out the greenhouse for potting them on. I've bought a book so I can identify the millions of plants and I don't intend to mess with anything until we've seen a whole year through. Very excited about the prospect of the "garden". It's going to be a big wildlife garden!0 -
