He'll be showing her his collection of gudgeon pins any day now, you mark my words......;)
It's the Village Day today, and they've had a half-decent day for it. :TThe wind's still sharp, though.
Village Day starts at 11am, when the men in the village club assemble outside the pub, have a roll call and then walk around the village behind a band, ending up at the church. They have a service, following which they retire to the hall for a luncheon. After that, the festivities begin. :j
I am excused all that, because I'm not in the club. I can't join it either. For a start, I don't live inside the village, and secondly, I'm over 50, which is the maximum age one may be on enrolment.Good job I'm not a woman, or that would be 3 reasons! :rotfl:

I could say that was a hang-over from the old Beating the Bounds ceremonies but it actually sounds more like something dreamt up by some very clever women to get rid of the men for a few hours0

Ooooohhhhhh page 500! Time to start a new thread soon me thinks
Rhiwie glad to hear your wife got the all clear, it is scary when you get called back however I always find it really reassuring that they are being extra careful.
LIR I am glad to hear that things went as well as could be expected, I have had you in my thoughts.
Alfie sounds like exciting times, I hope the dating goes well and that you find the ideal place for your dad.
Dave your absence is clearly their loss
CTC I did have a bit of a giggle at the thought of you driving half way there on the wrong dayI am often the other way and remember things just as they are about to finish
Things are good here, finally I have had some things go my way and it feels great. Nothing major just a few quiet bits of joy which is exactly what we needed to lift our spirits.
The weather here has been quite good but I have not had the chance to relax in the garden as I have been rushing about going to different appointments and doing paperwork, however I am going to the beach tomorrow for a day of relaxationTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Sorry been away for a while - DD1 was ill, so we had another trip to London to help out with the babe so she could get some rest. Got home on Thursday, we broke the journey at Warwick thinking we'd go for another visit to Compton Verney, but were so knackered when we woke up on Thurs morning we just came home instead. Have been reading but too knackered to write while we were away - definitely feeling aged now!
Just before we left for London had an email from local allotments to say I've reached the top of the list, and offering a half plot. :j Going to see it at 1pm today, can't wait!So glad that I sowed peas beans and kale before we headed off away - all seem to be coming up, so some will go in garden here, and hopefully some at allotment (assuming we take it). We have 6 months trial, and in that time are supposed to get at least 75% of the plot cultivated. Fingers crossed it isn't too full of weeds!
How did the family meet go Alfie? Hope you had fun, toyed with having a barbie here, but it was just a bit too windy, seems a bit calmer today so maybe.
LiR so sorry to hear your news, hope that you aren't feeling too bad. Hugs. :grouphug:
Well, better get going or will be late for our meet at allotment!0 -
Maggie, an allotment is brave on top of the house garden the caravan and grandmotherly trips. I suppose with a trial period you'll know if it's for you. The only place I've ever had weeds grow like they do here, is on the allotment we had 30 years ago!
Here, no one seems to want the old council allotments in the middle of the village. Most of the council houses surrounding it are now privately owned. Some twit wondered if the council might convert some of the allotment space to parking spaces for them. The Parish Council Minutes don't quite say, "In your dreams, mate!" but that's the gist of them. :rotfl:
Glad things are going better for you, Rummer.
Here, Mr Dog seems to be on holiday. Haven't heard a thing. It's bliss!0 -
