37 within 2 miles
Bit more built up than you, Itsme, with no seaside in that radius!
But sales are just starting to happen, catchment is good and its prime commuting location for Cardiff.0 -

But sales are just starting to happen, catchment is good and its prime commuting location for Cardiff. While this is prime commuting location for nowhere (except the sea) :rotfl:
At least there's not a chance in hell of waking up to find anything being built around us, though. I guess that's a plus that commands a bit of a price.0 -
75 listed here within 4 miles, not including Mr Dog's, which has been withdrawn.
:(:(
Seems I was right and the agent accidentally placed all his properties in this morning's update, including those placed with him years ago. :wall:I hope they send him a big bill!
Although I'd rather be on the other side of the Bristol Channel, it would still have a very similar or slightly worse climate to that here. However, I'm not sure that anywhere in the UK would be hugely better from my POV. I don't like very dry either.
If I were buying again it would be with a higher proportion of woodland, and ideally, no fields, though I'd still like an outlook over someone else's fields!0 -
a bit like ours then Davesnave, well our woods is basically trees with loads of over grown wilderness, and we look over fields with horsies in:D
Huby and the boys are up the ranch now trying to get the trailer out of the pig run... ready for the auction tomorrow...
think they will be having fun and games.. as our big piggies are VERY nosey :rotfl::rotfl: we put the trailer in there for security,Work to live= not live to work0 -
Thanks everyone for the welcome! I myself am not worried about raising animals for the meat, apart from the fact I probably would get attached to them. The main issue for me is that the other half will not eat anything if it resembols what its supposed to be and I've had the fish finger discussion with him a million times over (he will eat Birds eye, but if I fish for the fish and make fish fingers myself he wont eat them, just encase of a bone!!! Yes I get very mad with him) as it is I think that when I get chickens he wont even be eating the eggs as he will probably find out where they come from and not from a packet at the supermarket. Adults these days sometimes make me sooooo mad!Nessy x

If they are like real free range he won't ever want to go back to supermarket ones.0 -

Giveaway might be the bits of woodshavings from the nest box stuck to the eggs, or the odd bits of carp
Our eggs are nearly always eaten within 4 days of lay and cook, look and taste different from supermarket eggs.
Really pleased that our local supermarket is offering different cuts of meat. We've had lots of neck fillets of lamb that offer great value and taste, noticed they had pork cheeks today which I will try at some point.
I think we've lost a few more of the asparagus plants over the winter, another helping from the beds tonight but a crying shame after 5 years of cultivation0 -
Agreenmess.... I remember an old saying my grandfather used to say, 'slowly, slowly catcha monkey, Which when I was very small, though he was trying to catch a monkey:rotfl: so maybe when you do have chickens, keep a supermarket egg box, and just mix your fresh eggs in with the other ones...
Hope FK, choille, Maggie and the others we haven't heard from are ok??? Not too sure if FK said they are going to the pig auction today???
Will take my camera to take pics of our new pigwigs, we are going with an open mind... don't know if we will go for big ones or little ones, how many, depends on the prices..
I am all excited:j:j hope we don't en up with the pigs from hell, as we were very lucky with our first lot.... they were ideal.
Anyway yesterday went extremely well, when they went up to get the trailer, they were fast asleep in their arc, until after they ha taken the car in their run, hitched up, an were just about to take the trailer out, the other boys helping, cacke themselves when they seen the size of them:rotfl::rotfl:.
We bought a bigger arc this time, we have an 8 x 8.. so plenty of room, for what ever we decide to get...:DWork to live= not live to work0 -
