TV stopped working, and weird phone stuff

Thanks. Glad we got to the bottom of this in the end. I had no idea that anything might have changed as regards functioning of different digiboxes.
And that of course explains why I was still getting TV reception without the digibox being on. Cool :-)
So the video won't work anymore? Why is that?0 -

As stated previously, there is no point connecting an aerial lead to your video because it has no digital tuner and can now only be used to play back recorded tapes. If recording programs is important to you, then you would be better spending your money on a digital PVR e.g. here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks for all the help, guys. Think I owe you a "virtual" pint some time :-)0

Not sure if anyone is still around :-), but I got the Humax and am very happy with it.
Only problem now is that I get a lot of issues with the sound (accompanied by pixellation, but the sound is often so bad I have to just turn it off). This only seems to happen with some channels (ITV channels, C5) and I have only noticed it with football matches, never documentaries etc. Also, the same channels are sometimes OK. Sometimes it gets better when I turn off and on again, but not usually.
Any idea what I could do about this?0 -
Sort out your aerial. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

The first thing that you need to check is your received signal strength and quality in the set-up menu on good channels and also on the bad channels, which will likely be transmitted on a different MUX. Check your manual e.g. Menu > System > Signal Detection. Without an adequate signal the Humax will not work correctly. You may have insufficient signal or you may be overloading the receiver with too much on some channels! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks. Will check the signal as suggested.
If it is the aerial, which as I explained before was set up on the other side of the house and now receives the signal from a transmitter much further away, there's nothing I'm going to be able to do about that, as I can't afford to pay someone a fortune to go up on the roof. So if it is that, will just have to live with it, I guess.0 -
I did find Signal Detection, but it didn't seem to actualy do anything. Maybe I missed something? What my messing around did do, though, was lose all the channels, so when I retuned I deleted all of them apart from the few that i watch. Haven't had any major issues (only minor pixellation) since, but then I haven't really had time to watch anything much yet. Might this have made a difference as regards overloading the tuner?0

It should show the received signal strength and quality for the channel that the box is tuned to e.g.
Therefore you can compare the received signal percentages on the channels that work fine with the ones that you have problems with. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Yes, that was what I was expecting. Instead, though, the screen just showed something like "no signal detected", with no results for inividual channels. Do you have to be on a specific channel in "TV mode" for this to work?0
