TV stopped working, and weird phone stuff

OP - did you realise the Hannington area did the digital switchover on 22nd Feb - I suspect this is no coincidence.

Thanks, everyone.
A slightly more tech-savvy friend came round last night to have a look, but no luck.
There is no way on my digibox to check signal strength, as far as I can see. All you can do is search for all channels again - have done this, and it doesn't find any.
22 Feb is exactly when this incident happened, yes. But Oxford is not covered by Hannington - according to that site, switchover took place on 22 September (after which I carried on using the TV perfectly OK, without the digibox). Go figure...
So what do I do now?0 -

Right. 22 Feb is exactly when this happened, yes. So what do I do now?
What is the make and model of this digibox?
Tell us what transmitters are displayed here along with the compass bearing and distance from your location. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Clearly if you were still getting analogue TV channels after the 22nd Sept you were not recieving signals from the usual Oxford transmitter - perhaps this is part of the problem.
It could be that you were getting your signal from Hannington (or a related relay) and after the switchover the signal may have dropped below the level you require to get reception.
It might be that you need to point your aerial at a different (possibly more local) transmitter.0 -
So it looks like I am going to need to get an aerial specialist in, then? It's way up the back wall of my house, so there's no way I can get to it.
Nice that they do this stuff, and then we have to pay a fortune to sort it out :-(0 -
Before you pay to get someone in why not mark out where your local transmitters are on a map and then work out which one your aerial points towards.
knowing where the tansmitters are is a good thing because if there is one close enough you may get away with putting a high gain antenna in the loft which you can do yourself for very little money.0 -
Transmitter is to the north of my house, and the aerial is on the south wall.
But as this was also the case before the September switchover (Oxford) and the Feb 22 one (Hannington), why have I suddenly now stopped getting the signal from the Hannington one?0 -

Hannington is on low power untill 18th April.
A few people are having the same problem as yourself suiko, check the posts right at the bottom of this link....

Do any of your neighbours who are on freeview have problems?
If not check which way their aerial is pointing and compare it to the position of yours.0 -
Whoah... think I need to go back to Uni to understand that stuff... have to say I can't really make anything of it, apart from the fact that, as you say, others are also having problems.
I saw something about not boosting the signal. We did try putting the aerial cable straight into the digibox yesterday, but no difference.0
