TV stopped working, and weird phone stuff

Turned it on tonight, and I just get a blue screen. Same thing with the digibox - just select channels as normal, then the blue screen. Tried all cables and connections - no difference. I have done nothing to it since yesterday.
Weirdly, my phone (Talk Talk) has also not been receiving calls. I can make calls, but all incoming calls either go straight to the answerphone service, or get a "no number".
Also I can't access my Outlook Web Access work email, tho Internet working normally otherwise.
Might these weird events be connected in some way? I have had issues with my phone line before, getting a recorded message in American English sporadically and on these occasions not being able to make calls. This never lasted long enough to do anything about it, though.

had any electrical surges on your supply recently ?? Or any electrical storms (i.e. lightning) ?? Or it may just be pure coincidence..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Nope, not as far as I know. But this morning the TV is still out of action. Guess I'll just have to get a new one...0

sounds like you may need a spark to check your electrics..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Electrics in the house are weird, yes. But far too expensive to have the whole place rewired. The weird thing is that the TV as such works - video fine. So I'm really not sure what it is, or whether it's worth getting someone in to look at it. Maybe should just buy a new integerated digital TV thingy.0

What TV service are you on? Freeview? There is no connection with your phone line, unless you are on VM cable.
Why would you buy a new TV without checking first if it's just the digibox that is faulty?
Weird to prioritise a new TV over potentially lethal electric wiring. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Yes, freeview.
But why would it be the digibox? I turn the TV on normally, and the four standard channels work without turning the digibox on. So surely it couldn't be that?
I thought about the aerial, given that the TV works with the video, but can't see anything wrog with it. It's only a year or two old, and surely there would be at least a "white noise" signal if that were the issue?
The house is old and there's no way I can spend hundreds and hundreds on sorting out the slightly iffy wiring that does neverthless work (at least for the most part). But then maybe I do accept a fairly high level of risk in my life in general :-)0 -
Well, if the TV can receive and display the analogue channels (and can also display the video feed), but not the Freeview channels, then what else can it be but the Freeview box or it's connections? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
