I hope things work out but him saying he'll do something and then actually standing up to his mother are two different things. I hope he keeps his word.

Time will tell. I don't think i'd have actually called the wedding off, however I really wish I had a time machine so I could go back in time and decline the money from his parents!!

Better to be aware that everything might not be perfect until he's shown he's capable of supporting his wife-to-be rather than be over-the-moon now and then let down again.

Give him a chance for sure but don't get euphoric yet.

I agree that I'm really pleased you talked, but I thought you were talking about whether to have the wedding go ahead or not. Not that he didn't back you up etc.

Maybe you need to make it very clear in future when you're upset over things. However I can't believe you had that argument and he claimed to be upset you weren't speaking, but still failed to see the reason why you weren't speaking. Even though in the argument to you told him it was his mother.
