  • I have opened an isa with national counties building society. Can anyone direct me to where I can find the sort code so I can transfer money into it online please? I would rather do that than send a cheque through the post. Thanks

If they'll let you pay initial deposit by transfer the sort code's 40-20-24. Page 3 HERE.

Are you sure they'll let you do that, most want cheques as initial deposit for identity checks. Sort code is 40-20-24.

If it is possible I suspect it might also need an NCBS account number. My ISA account number is 10 digits, so it may be one of those where you put the ISA account number in the reference field etc.....

I hope someone can help me. I've opened this ISA and have transferred previous years' ISA and I've paid in the full £5340 for 2011/12 tax year. I'd also like to pay in £5640 for the 2012/13 tax year, but how should I do this please? Can I just pay this in online or do I need to send NCBS a cheque now stating it's for the 2012/13 subscription?

I don't have the paperwork handy, but as far as I remember this account does not permit further deposits. You will have to open another ISA for the 2012/13 money.

NCBS have confirmed to me today that it is possible to pay in 2012/2013 allowance into this ISA :T:
You can either send in a cheque with a covering note confirming what you wish to do, you can use your debit card on the day using this online facilty or make a standing order payment using sort code:40- 20-24 account number 90614629 and the reference being your unique account number.

Mmm, now I don't know whether to stick 12/13 subscription in this, or go for the BM 4.05%. Difference of nearly £40 over the 2 years, but if I put it in this one, as least it means one less ISA to juggle with in two years' time.

Well with BM you know when the money is coming out, with NCBS you need to plan 3 months in advance. So if there is a good deal in 2 yrs time you can take it right away.

Has anyone found out how the notice period will work?
Do you need to start a transfer process to a named ISA and wait 99 days for it to go through (which will fail if the new ISA is withdrawn by then), or do you just tell them 99 days in advance and then initiate the transfer closer to the time (and hope there will be a good deal on, or cancel the notice)?
