I contacted NCBS today regarding an application that I posted on 23 February and below is the response, so hopefully any applications sent will be accepted and accounts opened:-
"Your account has not been opened yet and because of the high volume of applications received due to the popularity of the 5th Issue 3 year fixed rate ISA I am unable to check if this has been received as yet.
The ISA has now been withdrawn and we are no longer sending out application forms.
We have not yet set a date for when we are going to stop accepting them."

Did anyone apply for 2 forms to be sent via their website?

I made 1 application but on it, it asked if I wanted another form sent for another person , which I duly obliged for my spouse.

However I have only received 1 application form in the post 2-3 days ago

Did you get both in the same envelope? or separate envelopes?

Seems applications are finished now so I can't apply for another one if my spouse's application never shows up

I applied for the ISA and got an email saying I hadn't sufficiently said who my ISA manager (it's an online account and I have no idea who my ISA manager is, although I have given details re the ban account, sort code, account no. etc) was so it may not go through!

Your ISA Manager is the bank that your existing ISA is with.
  • Just wanted to say thanks to SnowMan, blueberrypie and 10_66 for your help :)

Have filled in the form today and it's in the post now. Hopefully it gets processed but I won't get my hopes up given the change...

Worth reading this, they are accepting applications until Monday 5th March.

    http://www.ncbs.co.uk/aboutus/LatestNews/NCBS-withdraws-Fixed-Rate-Cash-ISA-to-new-customers.aspx
The product, which was launched in September 2011, will continue to be exclusively available to existing customers+ until further notice. National Counties will accept applications received from new customers until Monday 5 March and the Society is looking into releasing a similarly competitive product later in the year.

+ Customers who have an open savings or mortgage account with National Counties as at close of business on 27 February.
    I came, I saw, I melted
  • Woohoo! Thanks SnowMan! I've convinced my mum to transfer her Saga ISA (earning basically nothing) into it. 21K... = £777 in a year!

It's weird how a post on this forum can cause so many applications to be posted to overwhelm banks and building societies.

Must admit though, apart from a small amount in Halifax (2.8% Online Saver, kept for instant access) and First Direct (Regular Saver), I don't really have any savings in any bank as they all give really crap interest rates.

Building Societies really do top the charts with saving accounts.
