Replaced the front lower wishbones & ball joint/bushes on the current banger last week , the 30 something neighbours looked on as though i was practicing some dark arts, yrs ago i would have had friends & neighbours stopping by & offering help & advice, how times have changed. The £480 Mk1 fabia estate 1.9 has now gone through 2 mot's with a 18month parts bill of £80, so far so good,3

Changing a battery on the vast majority of cars is as easy as changing the batteries in a torch. Certainly easier than changing a wheel.
If you are not earning £100+ per hour why wouldn't you do it?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson3 -
Spent an enjoyable few days recently getting a 98 & 02 vw through their mot's. Pair of discs, pads and a few tyres, trade prices and a few hours work = ultra cheap motoring....result.
Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience? Why? So you can argue with them?4 -

Not used a Haynes manual for almost 20yr, as stated youtube is a good source though i tend to look at the owners forums first , usually loads of info on common faults & unusual workarounds also often detailed instructions.

I can't help thinking that the greater access to 'how to' info is majorly offset by the increased complexity of systems/installations especially diagnostics.Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on.
