Am sure most people would fit their own battery"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson1

There's little point in trying bangernomics if people can't do something like basic maintenance.

It depends where you go. The last battery I bought came from my local garage. The mechanic fitted it free, no questions asked. I wasn't given the option to put it in myself, although it was a slightly odd situation as the car had to be taken there on a low loader!Deleted_User said:

It's only a 10 min job but what a lot of garages do is include the price for fitting in the price of the part. Why wasnt the car jump started if it was only a bad battery?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

The car was jump-started, several times in fact, but it did no good. What happened, and I admit that it was odd, was complete failure of the battery. It simply lost the ability to hold any charge at all, which resulted in the ECU shutting down as soon as the jump leads were removed. I was away from home, so it was easier to take the car to the garage than go there, buy a battery and take it back to the car.dipsomaniac said:It's only a 10 min job but what a lot of garages do is include the price for fitting in the price of the part.
