My banger was in at Toyota for a recall last week, they highlighted that one of the coil springs has sheared off right at the bottom, I read that it odes not mean it is an automatic MOT failure, does anyone have any knowledge of this?

no, but if it's a recall I'd expect them to sort it free-ish......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

My latest runabout is a 16 year old 1L picanto, owned for 2 years. Aside from petrol, everything else comes in at about £850 a year, about £500 is to keep it on the road and through another MOT. It's the most expensive one I've had to maintain and I'm sure if I still had my old MOT guy the repair costs would be a lot less, but the garage I now use comes highly recommended and he quickly turns my car around.
Costs upto £32 to fill up, about £3 50 miles round trip to work as it's quiet Mway / 40mph roads, with a few 20's.
For a 'shopper' car, I've managed to get loads in, including a 3 seater IKEA sofa and arm chair, both flat packed.
It's a fun little thing and I would have another, there wasn't anything appealing for sale of my usual favoured make / sister companies.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
I've had my 2006 Nissan Note for 8 years now, most I've had to spend on it in one go was £300
It'll be 15 this year, hoping to get it to 20 at least2 -

Both sound like lovely bangernomics, just how bangernomics should be.3 -
The banger was in for an interim service and a check over before being presented for its MOT later this month.
£86 for the interim service and a quote of £110 to get it through the MOT. £150 including the fee is not too bad.2
