, my 53 plate Fusion (currently looking like the best bangernomicsmobile I've had to date)

I still stand by this statement - I've kept a record of every fuel purchase & mileage done, and in 18 months it's averaged 60.5 mpg :D MoT due in April and apart from a couple of (part-worn ;) ) tyres there's nothing that it looks like it'll fail on :) Add to that £30 a year road tax and sub-£200 insurance, it's a little belter.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
  • Doing great. Still only cost me 2 front springs and 4 tyres in the 2.5 years of ownership (and some bulbs) although it's 10.5 years old and the cambelt is overdue. Quotes I've had range from £299 to £376. :(

I know I have always tried to get a full kit off Ebay a gates one and saves quite abit as some mechanics want to make money out of the parts.

    What car is yours Lee?

    It's a 2008 Peugeot 207 1.4 HDI.

I think true bangernomics would rule out doing the cambelt, but I reckon it would be worth it to easily get another 5 years out of the car.
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on
  • When it comes to servicing do the bangernomics devotees just do the minimum such as oil & filter change? People do spark plugs too? Just wondering where the cut off point is in terms of running it to the ground?

Only a fool would neglect basic servicing.

It's been a decent car so in my eyes it's worth the cambelt change to keep it on the road for at least another 5 years.

In fact at 10.5 years old I wouldn't think of it as a true bangernomic just yet but I know thousands would.
