...and as cars have become more complex, it naturally follows that they're less green to produce than they used to be... Bangernomics wins all ways round :D

Bangernomics cuts carbon emissions. Making a car last 200,000 miles instead of 100,000 halves the total lifecycle carbon emissions including its fuel. Amazing how unfashionable and unsupported by governments bangernomics is then.

It's all about selling cars and making profits to keep the rich rich.

Yep but the golden age of bangernomics will be over then as cars of today can no longer be fixed with a just a screwdriver and a socket set. :(

You often need a torx set too now.

Exactly how I see it! Hybrid Mondeo? Be peanuts in 2028.

That is the biggest risk I can see...already, my 53 plate Fusion (currently looking like the best bangernomicsmobile I've had to date) runs on computers and electro-pretty-much-everything :(

The bangernomics of the future could be way more reliant on buy-drive-scrap than it is today....

Doing great. Still only cost me 2 front springs and 4 tyres in the 2.5 years of ownership (and some bulbs) although it's 10.5 years old and the cambelt is overdue. Quotes I've had range from £299 to £376. :(
