MOT due next month on my Megane too. I know it's going to cost £££.0

Latest bangernomics find arrived yesterday. £500 Golf MK4 TDI, my favourite diesel! Needs bonnet and wing and good clean but otherwise sound. Hopefully a good few years motoring in this one.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

There won't be a DPF on a Mark 4.0 -

As above, no DPF. One reason why I like the MK4 Golfs.
MOT till Sept, 51 plate with 144k miles so 100k less than my previous one, plenty of life there! Found out cambelt hasn't been changed for a while so that's first thing on my list this week. It's not been run for 6 months so needed a spare battery to get going but started on first turn of the key.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
I had the 2001 Megane in for MOT yesterday, it failed on 2 tyres (1 front 1 back), front track rod end, and front brakes imbalanced across an axle. Also an advisory for worn & pitted front brake discs and front pads wearing thin.
Had the 2 new tyres and track rod end replaced and the front discs and pads advisory replaced too which sorted the brake imbalance. Garage rotated the tyres too so the 2 new ones are on the same axle and not 1 on front and 1 on rear as per the failure.
Total damage including MOT fee £266.
All set for another years budget motoring. Lovely jubbly
Oh yeah, rear passenger door still stuck so they obviously didn't check the doors during the MOT.0 -
Hi
Got to scrap the missus's micra as I found a big hole in the sill, needs quite a few other bits so prob wont re MOT TBH
So started looking round at a clio 1.4 auto ( I had one about 8 years ago ). Its on ebay and they want £375 for a BIN price.
All looks tidy outside and the guys got 100% feedback ( 188 items )
Its got 55 on the clock and looks like its passed its last MOT ( feb 2016 ) quite easily. Tells me the belts been done 3 years ago. 2 owners on the log book and it looks like it does 2k a year or less.
Its just its from 1991 so now 25 years old ( please tell me shut up and stop being paranoid!!! )
Should I grab it? ( I will have a quick go round the block hopefully and see theres no oil dripping )

If it's the one I've just searched for, Silver J-reg, then I'd say it's worth a punt.
I'd go for it if I was in need of a replacement car and it was local.
But you'll have to be quick as the seller appears to be one of these time waster types that expect you to bid in a 10 day auction while also stating "The car is advertised elsewhere, we reserve the right to end the auction at anytime!"0 -
going around to see it tomorrow.
lady said shes quite happy for me to give it a spin ( that makes me feel much more confident tbh )
just need to check its not dripping on the floor and the oil caps black inside and I suspect I'll buy it.
