Yep, noticed it is £66 on ECP plus I had the 10% code email the other day too. Sadly couldn't fit one myself with no ramp access.

Got a few sneaky quotes from a few other local garages, all would have ranged from £187-£212 fitted.

All ours needed was a new cat for last MOT. Can't remember the cost of the Cat, but the labour was around 1.5 hours, but I was only charged for 1 hour on my invoice. I know the time taken as I waited in the viewing room whilst it was done.
  • Sounds more likely.

Thanks for the advice. i work as a coach driver. the mechanic at the depot tested the battery and alternator with his meter. Turns out the battery was knackered. it was actually the original battery fitted at the factory 16 years ago. Got a new quality battery using the companys account at the local motor factors for £24. fitted it on Friday and the car has been sweet as a nut.
All the mechanic would accept for payment was some coffee and teabags left in their bothy.
just because you are paranoid doesnt mean to say they are not out to get you

Result then. Glad you got it sorted.

  • Had the Challenger 3 months, bought £100 of stuff for it and £40 to put it in for it's MOT.
It passed the MOT, so I sold it again. 20 mpg ain't all it's cracked up to be, and the dog struggled to get into it. It also wasn't going to be practical for the holidays this year. Got my purchase price back, so happy to have owned it and got out.

I've since bought the OH a Nissan Note, and hope to have myself another Grand Voyager by the end of today.

Once the Passat is sold, unfortunately, my bangernomics days are over for the forseeable future.

well the scenic started to have intermittent starting problems yesterday.. weird thing is it starts fine in asda and wont start when in Lidl lol..
anyway ive diagnosed it as a intermittent failure of the TDC/Crankshaft sensor.. (renault mech told me just to clean it as 99% of the time its just full of swarf from the starter motor with the sensor being magnetic..

This happened to me on and off for a couple month last year, some reason it stopped doing it and hasn't done it for at least 6 months now.

I still haven't cleaned or changed it.
