Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

Well i have to say i am well on the way to a red week, and on Day 1. :rotfl: Gotta laugh.

Just bought my cinema ticket for this evening. However for the first time ever i have purchased cheap sweet popcorn and a can of coke to take with me. And.... since when does it cost £8 for a ticket.

So i have spent £9.50 ish already.

LC - sounds like you had a good time yesterday and made the most of it and well done for having money saved towards it. You sound a bit chirpier today too.

Scotmum - how are things with your FiL?

Good luck to everyone with this weeks budgets/ challenges.

eto- thanks for asking. He isn't too bad although he still has no mobility in his legs he isn't quite as disorientated as he was. MIL is determined to bring him home but I don't think she realises quite how hard it will be for her. Doc says with a stroke he might get movement back might not we are just hoping he makes some sort of recovery:)
Hope you have a great time at the cinema x

Thanks for the new thread LC and I'm glad you enjoyed your day yesterday :)

Can you put me down for £5 this week please but I am really hoping I don't spend even that amount. Things are tight this month :(

    Thank you x

  • Thanks for setting up the thread LC. Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling great I hope you have a better week this week.

As predicted I did slip off the planet some what this week due to the chaos of moving. I was so very very red last week it is like my bank account has a hole in it. Any way I need to get back on top of this budgetting lark so I am going to pledge £30 from tomorrow to last me until Friday.

Internet is still not sorted but I do have a dongle which is capped at 1GB for the month which is not very much. :(

    Have a good week everyone.

Hello, just updated on last week's thread and managed to come in under budget!

Could I put myself down for £10 this week? Have a tenner in my purse and I MUST NOT take any more out of the bank account!

    Have a good week all:)

    Hi,

never posted on this challenge before - and I know it's going to be a bad week, as I have my hair appointment booked (I only get it done twice a year so it's not too horrific)...

Taking into account the fact I need to do a medium sized shop, and the hair...

£100. (oh gosh even typing that was hard to do)...

Wow I need to find a spare kidney to sell or something that's awful.
