Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.
On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.
Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:
Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week
This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Afternoon all
I was green last week. I don't have much planned this week but I am off Friday so my budget is only going until Thursday this week. I am going for £30 this week and hopefully that should be easy enough as long as I take lunch with me to work.
Results and pledges have been updated from last week's thread. Let me know if there are any more.
Thanks LC for running last week's thread.
Have a good weekend everyone. I am watching the rugby which should be fun.Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

I had a money off voucher for Morrisons I needed to use before tomorrow, so have done a big-ish shop (from having used all the food in my cupboards practically) trying to shop a little more carefully - buying value stuff etc and looking out for offers...
So am going to challenge myself to not spend over what is left in my wallet... £7.00!... This will encourage me to take packed lunches and cook rather than but convenience foods...
Am doing another challenge hand in hand with this one which includes having 'No Spend Days' and have pledged for 5 in a row... so will try for that this week too.
Good luck everyone!!!⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

Evening.
I've had a horrific few spendy days since Thursday. Must get back on wagon...
I'll pledge £20 for the week again but hope to come in under budget (unless my kids scupper me again).
Plans are for nsd's right through till Friday next week but who knows what may happen?Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
Good Morning.
I had a terrible spendy day yesterdayand I felt as if i could quite easily have slid back into old habits. I didn't thank goodness and I will use everything I bought yesterday but it really proved to me that I will never be "cured" and will always have to watch myself and keep myself in check.
This week I would like to aim for £10. I have a couple of things on that I can't avoid but apart from that I am spending NOTHING else.
Have a great Sunday x xFree by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
Hi all
Well I was red last week but determined to be green this week. I'd like to pledge £30 this week.
Good luck everyone0 -
Hi everyone
Sorry about my absence towards the end of the week, been a nightmare at work and then Friday went out after work with a few people, ended up staying at my friends but then had to go straight out on Saturday which was pre-planned, so got home yesterday evening feeling rather exhausted!
ppthanks for updating everyone's totals - could you just put me down for red last week please as I've done so much "creative budgeting" to cover various spends, I feel it would be cheating to say I was green!
This week could I please go for £20. I plan to be very good (fingers crossed) and stop giving in to temptation and spending willy nilly when I know it's not really budgeted for. My friend at work who is the one I go to the pub most with, is actually leaving on 24 Feb, all happened very suddenly, and is moving to London. He's one of my best friends and we spend a lot of time together, so I'm quite down about this. On the positive side, it should make my spending a little easier to control. On the negative (apart from him going), I kind of want to see him as much as I can over the next 3 weeks till he goes, so my budgeting could get fried. Lordy, this is going to be a tough month. The only place I'm doing well is the food budget. :rotfl:
Okay, so with no unforseen events etc (which you may have noticed, I always seem to have!), this is the plan:
Sun 5 Feb: NSD for challenge (going for true NSD)
Mon 6 Feb: NSD for challenge (honey from Week 1 Food, milk from Week 2 Food)
Tue 7 Feb: NSD (possible true NSD)
Wed 8 Feb: NSD for challenge (Week 2 main shop from Food)
Thu 9 Feb: NSD
Fri 10 Feb: Most likely day for spends...
Total so far: £0/£20
Ooo I forgot to say! Yesterday we were in Swindon at the outlet village and I did my yearly Body Shop swoop for shower gel mainly... get this (I love my new thrifty outlook...)
I bought:
12 x Spiced Vanilla Shower Gel (RRP £4 each so total £48)
1x Spiced Vanilla Hand Cream (RRP £6)
1x Peppermint Foot Moisturiser Intensive (RRP £9)
Guess how much I paid for the lot?
£9.25
Yep, £9.25 for £63 worth of stuff :T And that literally should see me well through the year for shower gel (I did it last year but didn't get such a good deal and I think 8 bottles got me to November).
Well chuffed
Hope you're all warm and cosy, I'm not going to leave the house today, I'm tired, have tons of chores to do, and don't want to spend any money or use any petrol! Plan! Plus it's all icy out and I' live right in the sticks - we effectively get frozen in when it's too bad because the choice of three lanes I could take at the end of the drive all become impassable in their own way! It's not that bad at the mo, but is it wrong of me to wish I wouldn't be able to get through tomorrow for work?! :rotfl:

Good morning everyone. Snow here. Looks pretty but I hope it goes
Quickly so I can get to work tomorrow.
Anyway last week spent a total of £9.16. This was mostly on exercise class, a cup of tea with friend, cheap lunch at work and some fruit. Am green again this week. Am really pleased.
Please put me down for £10 again this week. May not get to my exercise class because of snow but my money will cover roughly the same as last week.
Keep warm and safe everyone. Thanks pp for keeping me on straight and narrow :rotfl:
