  • Cafe Scientifique is an organisation that brings science to lay people. There are lots of them over the country in most major cities. They are held once a month and have a guest speaker with questions after.

Thanks, sounds just like my sort of thing, will need to go and look up if there are any locally on days I can get to them.

  • Another £4 something for me, treated myself to choc and coke again as hubby was being an ar*e.... :D and i was feeling a bit rubbish. And also some choc treats for some lads i look after.

I have lost focus a little bit this week. But aim to get back on track next week, actually over the weekend. Lots of unnecessary spends this week.

Good evening. Well we've had more snow here. It's been a long week and I'm already in bed sipping hot tea. Most of the snow is melted now. Hope it stays away. Anyway ..... Back to business. Have had a good week this week. Spent my budget on a couple of cheap lunches in the works canteen, a couple of bars of chic and tea with a friend.

Please mark me down as green with a spend of £8.17. Third week in a row I've been green. Haven't managed to do a class this week due to the cold weather.

Please put me down next week with a budget of £15. Have got an expensive lunch and hope to get to the pool.

    Take care. EC x x

  • Hi everyone.
Sorry I've not been about for a couple of days - work is hell at the moment, then last night just couldn't get onto the forums.
I'm reporting in a green £10/£20 this week. It would have been a no spend week but treated myself to fish and chips and a couple of drinks to celebrate having next week off work.
As I'm off next week, better up the budget. I'll aim for £50 (always end up spending more in school hols)

  • Morning all

I am declaring green for last week with £11 out of £30. Things are going to get a bit hectic for the next few weeks as I am in the process of moving flat. We get the keys for our new flat today and have hand the keys over for the old one next Friday. So the next week is going to be packing, moving and unpacking. I am not looking forward to that but will be so happy when it is done and we are all settled in the new place.

I have been sorting out utilities for the new place and BT say it will take 2-3 weeks to get a line and broadband sorted:eek: I am going to try and get a PAYG dongle sorted so I have internet access. I am sure it is not a good sign that 3 weeks without internet fills me with fear:(

Anyway, LC I am going to try and get internet sorted as soon as possible but if not, I was hoping you could look after things here for a few weeks until I am back to normal.

As for Cafe Scientifique I am glad to spread to the word. Their website is here which should give details of the ones run near you. I think it is a really good thing and gives you the chance to meet loads of new people without spending a fortune.

    Enjoy your weekend all.

    Hi all

Just nipping on quickly to declare and start next week's thread as I'm going to be out all day (basically every Saturday we're doing wedding-y stuff for SA at the moment, which I'm quite enjoying. It's nice to have something to do on Saturday that gets me up and about. Especially since I've been quite housebound this week).

Anyway, pp I'm of course MORE than happy to take over till your internet is sorted - I'd be having palpitations at the thought of being without for so long!!! Although of course, that will be me when I move later in the year... I'll think about it at the time, no point worrying yet! just let me know when you want to start alternating again! Are you going to be still doing the challenge each week? I suppose it will depend on if you get your dongle...? Oh, and I'll have aa look at the Cafe Scientifique website later on when I'm home...I'm intrigued!

Last night I went to the pub and I bought some cigs. I spent £10.20 on my round at the pub - HOWEVER I took £10 of that as surplus from my grocery budget as I'm coming in well under this month (especially as mum and dad are starting Dukan diet today which I THOROUGHLY disagree with, but she's given me all their fruit and veg that they now won't use, so good for me!!). Cigs were £6.45, and so drinks were 20p from this budget. £6.65 total yesterdya.

    Sun 5 Feb: True NSD
Mon 6 Feb: £10.40 for sandwich lady, cigs, wine (also honey from Week 1 Food, milk from Week 2 Food)

Tue 7 Feb: NSD for challenge (shop from Week 2 Food)
    Wed 8 Feb: £3.10 Starbucks
Thu 9 Feb: NSD for challenge (spend from Presents budget for Mother's Day [yep, 18 March, I'm just organised!] and 2 friends congratulations cards for being pregnant)
Fri 10 Feb: £6.65 cigs and drinks (also Week 3 Food spend)

    Total so far: £20.15/£20

    HOW ANNOYING!!! 15P!!! GRR!

  • Total of £35.16/ £25 for me. :mad::mad:

Was looking at being 16p over, but as we went out last night hubby spent £40 so thought it was rude not to put in the pot, so i gave him £10, thought it was only fair, so this took me over.

Am potting £1.84 in my sealed pot, carrying £3 over to next week and adding £20

So next weeks will be £23, got a meal out on Monday but no other spends planned. Well petrol and few groceries but from another budget.

Thanks for keeping the thread going pp and LC.

Have a good weekend all. It is our valentines day today so a lovely day together then a meal out and already had a big bunch of roses too. :D
