Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.
On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.
Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:
Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week
This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Hi guys
Just nipping on quickly as I'm off out on a few errands with a friend and probably for coffee, and I'm not AT ALL ready and have to leave in 25 mins... hmm, so gonna happen... hehe
I'm pledging £15 for next week starting tomorrow, Feb will be a really tight month for me, got a few bits on and am putting £340 towards SA (of which I'm planning to stick £300 straight on my CashPassport depending on exchange rates as they're falling a little at the moment, annoyingly!!! Just didn't have the money until got debt free though unfortunately!
Have a great weekend all, I'll be back either later or tomorrow!
LC

*wanders in, looking for everyone*
Am I first???? I'm a bit lonely in here
I would like to pledge another £5 for the week. Not sure if that's possible as it will be my third week of very low (or nothing spends). I hate 5 week months, it seems like forever since payday and forever until the next one
Good luck for next week everyone x x

Hi All. Count me in... Am setting my limit at £20.00 for this week... Feb is going to be the month I catch up with my budget - so it means being frugal hehe! I am using up all the food I have in the house (2 boxes of porridge to work through
and tins of stuff I have never used...) and then am going to try buying Value products in supermarkets to make my money go farther. Good luck everyone!!!

Morning all (Just) (It was when i started typing then comp kept crashing)
Have declared on other thread at £2.90 out of £10. Chuffed again. The amount of weeks in the past when i have just squandered money, by popping into the local express and spent on choc/ crisps/ coke etc and my money just goes. But as i have a tight budget i cannot afford to do this anymore. Well not all the time.
So busier week for me as i get paid on Monday. So setting budget of £50 this week.
Sun - NSD
Mon - Work - Nails - £20 i know but my treat every 3 weeks. (just remembered £1.20 for car park too)
Tues - NSD - Work - Hair appt - budgetted
Weds - Work - tea with a very good friend £20
Thurs - NSD - Work
Fri - NSD - Work
Sat - Newspaper
So minimum of £40, but will see if i can keep other spends to a minimum too.
Thanks LC for running the thread again, it is definitely keeping me focused, especially when i think about coming here and telling you all what i have wasted my money on.
Have a good weekend all.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -
ok have just been through my diary. I am not including groceries in my spends only things out of my personal spending budget (although will keep groceries as low as possible! Have a fairly stocked cupboard & fridge/freezer). So looking through my diary for the week ahead and I am going to pledge £60 this week incl petrol - have 1 lunch get together, 1 evening meal & a get together for drinks planned over the next week and will go out with oh to watch some music and have a drink - it's feast or famine isn't it???DF as at 30/12/16

Hello :hello:- have just gone through my weekly spends and for this week can I budget £120.
I know this is loads, but have to pay for DD's deposit on trip to France with cadets (£50) and am also going away next weekend with DD's dancing, so have allocated £10 for food (4 mums sharing cost and buying stuff to make and take with us, so should cut down on spends when there) and also £30 for actual spends at camp. Will take my own wine (which will come out of allowance) and apart from that shouldn't be too much of a spending weekend. Fingers crossed and hope that this is doable as £120 is loads for just one week.
Many thanks:TWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:

Hello everyone. Managed to spend a total of £9.20 last week so please put me down for purple. This consisted of one class, a couple of drinks with a friend, some fresh fruit and a plain roll on Friday. Am really pleased. Well done to everyone coming under budget. Just had a manicure and pedicure this morning (which have been budgeted for) and now just relaxing for the rest of the day.
Please put me down for £10 again next week. This will cover the same - one exercise class and socialising with friends.
Good luck to everyone.

Hi guys
I've updated the first post - as always let me know if I've got something wrong or missed anything! I had a really good day today - had fun with my friend just out running errands, then we went to Tesco and I got a few reduced things to freeze plus some lovely ham which I had on my FIRST EVER HOME MADE PIZZA (yes, I even made the dough... okay from a bread mix, but still, there was some serious kneading going on here!), and we played games and with her dogs this avo, then I came home to make my my pizza (actually 2 pizzas, one for tonight and one for tomorrow, and 5 bread rolls!)

Thanks for setting up and running the thread LC. I know that it's not going to be a purple week next week, as I've already asked someone to wash my car on Thursday but hoping to minimise the spends. I'm so proud that I've gotten to the end of January without being totally desperate for payday to come. It's tight, but not desperate. Shouldn't need to spend between now and then anyway so my bank account may look healthy by Tuesday (until Wednesday when all my direct debits go out).Ninja Saving Turtle0
