Hey everyone... Had more out goings than planned this week... I was aiming for £5.00. I hadn't factored in a friend coming over nor the expense of sending parcels off to try and make money hehe... but here's how I did

    Spent: Groceries/Treats £12.53 + Postage/Wrapping £12.90
    Total Spent = £25.43
    Music Magpie £40.80 + Sold Books £14.00
    Total Made = £54.80

Am declaring another ORANGE week - profit of £29.37

Next week I am back on track with my budget (Finally!!!) and not playing catch up. Am not including petrol expenses (£30.00 p/w). Am not including clothing allowance (£10.00p/w) - a new item in my budget. I don't remember when I last bought any new things and I figured I need to budget for this somewhere... I can save it up and buy one item at a time. Am also not going to include essential groceries (10.00p/w).

This leaves £20.00 per week for social life/activities/treats/additional food. This will be my total spending pot if you like... and where I will try and make savings or keep on target. This is a new budget I am trying and am going to see how it feels this week.

w/c 26th Feb I will be pledging to spend under £20.00

What does everyone do on Saturdays? The temptation to save but blow it all on a Saturday is quite high... Last week I sneaked in a shop on a Saturday and later decided to count in this weeks spends... Maybe Saturday would be a good day to total up money saved that week... and decide what you are going to use it for... e.g. pay off a debt, a well deserved treat, add on to next week etc. I would love to hear people's ideas... How much do people allow for groceries per week (per person). Is £10.00p/w realistic?

  • Hi everyone.
Just popping on to declare a green £13.57/£20 for the week. After quick food Wednesday I ended up with takeaway last night - but OH paid for it to cheer me up after quite a tough week.
I will try and belt tighten next week, I'm going to try for £10.
Abundant - I do most of my spending on a Saturday - grocery shopping for the week, petrol (if I remember) and anything else we might need as a family. It's mostly budgeted for elsewhere... and regarding our grocery spends £50 a week for 2 adults and 2 kids is the best I can manage so far. It is tempting to blow out but I tend to take £60 or £70 out of the bank, and then that's it as far as spends in town on Saturday are concerned. I don't use my card so I can't overspend.
I only count my weekly spends from Sunday to Friday - so Saturday is my day off. Just have to make sure I don't blow it.

    Hi everyone

Well, I'm here bright and early on a Saturday morning and downing coffee like there's no tomorrow! (yet another rubbish night's sleep! - got about 4.5 hours uninterrupted, then was awake on and off till about 7, then gave up on the whole thing!)

I spent £3.40 yesterday on 10 cigs. I also spent other money, but it was from a dress refund so I'm not counting it! :p

Spoke to the Dr yesterday and basically he's signed me off AGAIN, until next Friday this time. The reason is because he doesn't think my new highest dose of tablets is doing the trick, so over the next days I have strict instructions on how to wean off them, and on Thursday I start taking the new ones he's prescribed. In his words "it could be a tricky week" Hehe, then he will ring me on Thursday and assess, but basically we're aiming that I'll start back at work on Monday 5th, but it will be a phased return. My managers agree this is a good idea, and he is all for it and I'm up for it, so fingers crossed!

Sun 19 Feb - Treaty nibbles for film - £3.59
Mon 20 Feb - NSD for challenge
    Tue 21 Feb - Pancakes - £0.99
Wed 22 Feb - Meal out for T leaving do - ZaZa Bazaar! (yay!) - £31.95
    Thu 23 Feb - True NSD...finally!
    Fri 24 Feb - £3.40 cigs

    Total: £39.93/£20

So that would be me declaring a GIANT red!!!

I'm off to update this thread and get the new one started as I'll be out from about 11am until this evening (free lunch though - we're all taking something to my friends house as I'm practising doin gtheir make up for the wedding (I land in SA 5 weeks today!!) so I'm taking some YS ham and turkey I had in the freezer, the bride is providing bread and cheese, one bridesmaid is bringing hand cooked crisps, and the other is bringing some kind of cake product for pudding -- I.e. ham/turkey and cheese on toast for lunch, yum!

Hope everyone has a nice day

    Good Morning :)

Thanks for the new link LC and I hope you have a great day today.

Abundant - I try to forsee everything I need for the following week and get it on a Saturday, much like wannabee. So the £5 a week I pledge is supposed to stop me for just buying stuff that I don't really need as it is such a small amount. It is working so far. I try for £30 groceries for myself, two hungry kids and the dog. It's tough but I am managing.

I am declaring a lovely purple again this week :j My £5 is put aside for next week now :)

    Sunday - NSD :)
    Monday - NSD :)
    Tuesday - NSD :)
    Wednesday - NSD :)
    Thursday - NSD :)
    Friday - NSD :)
