How often do you wash your car?

I just bought a new car & I was very guilty of leaving my old car up to 6 weeks sometimes without washing it.:o

Is there a recommended time you should wash it, like there is with trye pressures etc?

Also what is the best way to wash it? Car wash or by hand as examples.

It depends how much these things matter to you. As long as my windows and mirrors are clean I can go months between visits to the local hand car wash centre to get the rest of the car done.

My wife's car may be done twice a year and one of those is after a service.

Doesn't that damage the car though?

And I have no idea what the two bucket method is.:o

twice a year for me. does leaving it out the garage when it is raining count as washing it?
If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!
  • At least once a week.

A clean car runs better and gets more mpg as it cuts through the air easier.

(Now standing by for all those who disagree). :naughty:

Most weeks. Did it last weekend will do it again tomorrow as it's got some more salt on it. Longest it's ever been left is 3 weeks. I do always try and keep it clean. It also makes it easier to clean as there is no stuck on dirt at all.

It is the salt that is concerning me atm. I drove 120 miles each way the other day & I it was covered in salt.

    Does this harm a car?

I don't let my car get scruffy but I don't want to wash it every few days either.
