How often do you wash your car?

My last car got washed rarely cus I discovered that it had a leak (actually, it had about five leaks, I was exhausted bailing it out all the time). It was black and it was a nightmare to keep clean. Shiny black looks lovely but boy is it a pig to try and keep!
I've got a new car now which is a very light blue. It doesn't show the dirt half as bad
Also, it doesn't leak so I reckon we will be frequenting the Autoshine a bit more often
I don't wash my car myself cus I'm disabled but I did enjoy the simple pleasures of washing and polishing a car sometimes. I hope to get back to it some day.0 -
I do use the 2 bucket method.
Bucket 1 full of soap, from a distance lob over car.
Bucket 2 full of water, from a distance lob over car.
Go back in, have nice cup of tea.
And that completes the 2 bucket method.0 -
I don't see why some people leave their cars filthy, I think it just reflects on you as a person. I've been in a number of cars with filthy interiors, crumbs everywhere, crisp packets and drink cans in the footwells, magazines and newspapers all over the place etc.
Besides driving about in a dirty car you are likely to be stopped by the police, as it shows there could be further signs of neglect to the car, mechanically. Also a dirty car being driven around is more likely to be stolen as it's hardly likely the thief will keep it clean (until they try and sell it on, maybe).0 -

I was last stopped by the police 32 years ago.
I have washed the car since but not often.
Usually for the mot, in case the tester thinks the same way as you.0 -
Thanks for the links, I managed to get one at Halfords.
I also got a decent shampoo & a good wax.
I've just finished & it looks great.
I drive a lot in my job, what's the bet it is filthy again tomorrow.
I'm just going to do it every week now to keep it looking good. :jLife is short, smile while you still have teeth

I look at it this way. A car often is 2nd most expensive item you buy unless its a really old banger, so why not look after it? Even an old car my last one was over 10 years ford focus mk1 it was almost immaculate as I looked after it.
I also think a car looks nice when its clean yes it hard this time of yearI don't see why some people leave their cars filthy, I think it just reflects on you as a person. Totally agree with the above- my car is immaculate inside, its not that hard to keep it clean (unless you have kids i guess).
My car is black and an absolute pain to keep clean. I try to wash it every 3 weeks or so though in the winter its less often just because its so cold outside!0 -

You don't feel embarrased in any way if you give people lifts in your filthy car? If you use taxis/minicabs, you're not bothered if it's dirty outside, and you're sitting in the mess possibly left behind by previous customers?0
