Mazza - Welcome back to the fold Congrats on putting the xtrainer together with your daughter I hope it wont be too hard on your knees? When are you going to see the dietician

That's why we went for x trainer/combi bike :D Easier on the knees. DS helped me build it, DD is too shattered to do anything like that :rotfl: Sorry, I got a mental image of her trying to put it together :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Would be velcro flying everywhere as that's what's holding her together atm :D I tried the cross trainer bit, but it's a wee bit too hard for me and my knees atm, but hoping to build up on the cycle so I can then start the x training bit, if that makes sense.

Doc has referred DD to dietician. Guess we'll just have to wait and see, just like everything related to the nhs. How long's a bit of string.

My DD will be known as Bendy from now on because of all her bendy bits:o She's very limited with the exercise she can do, but has done 1 min a day on the exercise bike. Anything to try and build the strength in her hamstrings up a bit prior to surgery. Still hoping to try and avoid that option tho :)

Couldn't resist stepping on scales this morning, and it's showing as -2 today, so hopefully that's the start of it all coming off again :D

Keeping a wee tally of my exercise too :)

    Hiya

Thanks as usual for the chart Fred - you do a marvellous job of keeping us all focussed.

I'd like to join the Wenlock team next month please - my parents lived in Much Wenlock (Shropshire) when I was a baby, so it makes sense. And can you put me down for a triathlon please - I AM going to record some exercise, even if it's only decorating. The wallpapering is done but I've still got the banisters and doors to do - all 8 of them

Here's to some amazing weightlosses in July! :D

Not on her hams hon, we're building up the quads in case of op. Hoping the splints will make enough of a difference. Have to try them for a couple of months, if there's no difference, she's to have a lateral release, if that doesn't work, she's to have total knee reconstruction  Surgeon doesn't really want to do it as it's not always successful, even less successful in people with HMS, especially as she's only 21 :/ . The way the knee cap is atm, it's dislocating every step, so the knee just won't support her. The supports are going good so far though, less falling involved :D

If you watch that link, when you see the knee cap up the top, that's where bendy's is most of the time. So the more we build up the round about bit, hams and quads, the more chance of an easier recovery :)

Dident realise your DD had hypermobility Mazza.
My apologies as I must have missed that along the way.
I find the bike even in small doses on a low level to slowly build up the quads.
My quads are one of my weak points :rotfl:
    Does your DD get DLA?

Thank you for the chart Fred. Don't think I really deserve SOW as it was what I would call 'holiday weight' - and usually does come off again quite quickly. But not to look a gift horse .... I am SOW :T:T:T

Well done to SOM Lois - 8lb loss in a month fab :T:T:T

Fred - could you put me down for the 5lb challenge, the Mandeville team and the Triathalon. Will try for the full distance and see how I get on.

Beanie hon, we've had a nightmare time trying to get diagnosed, as anyone with HMS/EDS will tell you, it can be a nightmare. We didn't know she had it either (or me for that matter although, I'm sure I'm just HM and not HMS!) Still haven't had a rheumy diagnose it, but has had a physio and 2 podiatrists diagnose it. GP wants her to let orthopedics do as much as they can before going down the rheumy road.

Because with each injury we were told it would take around 8 weeks to heal, we didn't apply. Here we are a year later, and she's still in crutches, so we've applied recently. Got a doc coming to assess her. So fingers crossed hon.

Her problems started when she was 8, dislocated both ankles springboard diving, told she would be in a wheelchair by the time she was 30. Was so angry and in shock that I didn't think to question it at the time, was more interested in telling doc off for saying that in front of an 8 yr old. Had the occasional pop throughout her teenage years, always managed to reduce by itself. Roll on to 20 and bang!!! Hit like a ton of bricks.

For those of you who don't know what HMS/EDS is. Watch corrie!!! The lass in the wheelchair has EDS type 3, which is the same as HMS. Big storyline coming up about EDS/HMS in corrie which will hopefully highlight this under diagnosed condition.

Sorry to go on, but I'm so passionate about it now, knowing how fast it can hit and destroy. The more people who know about it the better :)

Went to bed at 9pm last night and got up at 8.30am, was soooo tired. Think I over did it in the allotment on Wednesday, could hardly do anything yesterday as was so tired. Will have to keep an eye on the time next time I'm down there. Will try to do callanetics as usual today, am determined to keep to my routine. Probably won't increase the reps yet though until I stop feeling so tired.

Weigh in day today was so disappointed to find I'd
    STS :(
I have however, lost a 0.5" from my waist and 0.5" from my hips. Just wish the scales would move in the right direction.
I'm beginning to wonder whether I've got my diet right. I have been trying low carbing but think there may be too much fat in there. Will give it another week and if no change will reduce the amount of fats. The recommendations for Lyme Disease is a ratio of 2:1 proteins to carbs it does not say anything about fat. In fact I think extra fat may be harmful as the blood of LD sufferers is thicker & stickier than in normal people. There is a greater risk of strokes & heart attacks amongst sufferers.

    Morning all

It's a lovely sunny day here, hoping everyone else is enjoying some sunshine and not affected by floods.

Fred - can I record a 3 mile walk towards my July triathlon please? I know it's not July until tomorrow, but I've written off any attempt to achieve the goal in June! ;)

Still haven't finished the decorating - my back has been playing up again, so the 8 doors and banisters are still hanging over me. It will be done next week, then I can say I'M FINISHED, because the whole house will be done.

    Have a great weekend.
