Thanks Margaret Clare, I looked up Zoe Harcombe as you suggested. Phase 1 sounds very similar to the Anti Candida diet I did a couple of years ago,( although I do not have candida) the one I followed was by Erica White. It is for this reason I want to cut out sugars again. I lost 1st following that diet but put it all back on when I started eating sugars again. The good point is I know it works and with cutting down on carbs should be even more effective, I just have to remember it is a lifestyle change and stick to it always.

I'm thinking of recording my weight loss for the chart beginning next month but do we have to post in kilogrammes. I weigh my self in stones & llbs as that is what makes sense to me .

Most people weigh in stones and lbs - but a few like Margaretclaire weigh in kgs.

I convert the kg results to lbs for the chart :j:j

You also don't have to wait for the start of the month to start to post your loss - you can start any time, just post your result and I'll add it to the chart.

A -4lb loss for me this week. Sounds good but still need to lose another 6lb to get to my pre holiday weight.

Back to the gym this week after about 4 weeks off - so hopefully the weight will keep coming off.

Still not had chance to have a proper catch up properly with the thread - report writing time in work.

Good luck with the weight loss this week everyone.

Well, some success at last, after several weeks being STS around 67.8 kg. This morning, 67.2 kg.

It's been weeks and weeks since I was anywhere near that.

I read Zoe Harcombe's book 'Stop counting calories and start losing weight'. I started Phase 1 of her plan, now on Day 2. I started at 67.5 kg yesterday, now 67.2 kg.

I will convert that! Less one pound and 5 1/4 ounces since a week ago.

I've lost 11 ounces since yesterday.

Well I'll post a big fat STS

Didn't think there would be any change as I only started on Monday :rotfl: But just for the record

Stacey will also be a STS, we'll change our weighing in day to Wednesday now.

Exercise bike/x trainer has just arrived, dunno whether to attempt building it myself or waiting for the fella. Itching to get started :rotfl:

Not weighed myself today, my usual weigh in day is Saturday. I have however done
20 mins of callanetics and I'm off to the allotment this afternoon to do 1 hrs weeding (if it doesn't rain)

ETA: Ended up doing 2hrs weeding.

    Positive start McJordi ;)

When we're extremely overweight like I am. Little differences can make a difference. Slow and easy does it.

Had a couple of 2 minute goes on the exercise bike/x trainer. Me and my ds managed to build it between us. This is about all my knees will take. Stacey had a 2 min go and then walked home. Even the walking home is huge exercise for her, made more manageable with her new brace!!! \o/

Margaretclare - that sounds very similar to the paleo 'diet' that I was detoxing with. I did it for 5 days, and lost 6lbs so it does work, but what about the long term? Any weightloss programme needs to be something you can adopt in the long term, otherwise as soon as you stop doing it the weight goes back on again.

Zoe Harcombe's system is in 3 parts. Stage 1 lasts for 5 days but then there are Stages 2 and 3. To quote from her book: 'The key thing about Stage 2 is that it has to be workable' - she means not too complicated or demanding, something you can fit into your normal busy life. There are only 3 rules:

    1. Don't eat processed foods
2 Don't eat fats and carbohydrates at the same meal
    3. Don't eat foods that cause your cravings.

She also says 'don't eat sugar in any form'. This is going to be difficult because, as she says, sugar is in a huge number of foods. Cottage cheese and yogurts are what I'm going to have to avoid. Also dried fruits or fruit juices.

It does sound very much like the 'paleo' idea because it is based on food as nature intended it i.e. it either grew in the ground or on a tree or it was something that had a face - and that includes milk!

Nevertheless I'm going to give it a go. I'd only been doing it for 24 hours when I weighed myself this morning and already I'd lost 10 ounces.

Thanks for the further welcomes. However, not sure whether I had (officially) joined this thread? Anyway, as I mentioned that I knew my starting weight last Wednesday, today was 2lbs less. It was difficult achieving a "sensible" calorie intake but fortunately exercise performance (cycling) was much improved. Today, I have also been very active. Will have a look at your charts and new challenges tomorrow. Thanks.
