Lose Weight 35

Hey Everyone,
Welcome to the thread Dannie and Black Diamond! :j
Thanks Sary and Alliwant, I saw the doctor at the beginning of the week and they said that it was probably migraines. I didn't really consider that it could be that as the symptoms didn't fit, but they told me to go back if it hadn't gone by fri. Luckily they went a couple of days ago :j Still lots of pains though - esp in my right hand, which is really starting to affect me, so will probably end up going back anyway!
Not much happening weight wise, I've been eating well though and have been reasonably active each day, so hopefully it'll be a loss rather than a gain this week. Will weigh in on wed, then we're going away for a long weekend with friends, so will probably re-gain anything I lose, lol.

Hi everyone, some of you already know me from other threads but this one seems so friendly and encouraging I couldn't resist joining.
I have had Chronic Lyme Disease (symptoms similar to ME) for over 14 years. About two and half years ago I embarked on an elimination diet and ended up eliminating all sugar from my diet. Last Christmas was really stressful, my OH was faced with the possibility of losing his job and I thought, I won't be able to follow this kind of diet any longer as its too expensive and I reached for the tin of chocolates. BIG mistake. I am still struggling to cut out sugar again from my diet, I felt much healthier without it. This time I intend to include natural sugars from fruit. Whilst on the elimination diet I lost almost a stone in weight. Since being back on the sugar I have put it all back on and some more. I weigh more now than I ever did through any of my 3 pregnancies! I am determined to get the weight off again. As well as cutting out sugar I intend to lower the amount of carbs in my diet. I am lactose intolerant and follow a gluten free diet. Years ago my consultant told me that a diet with a 2:1 ratio of protein to carbs is good for Lyme disease suffers.
About six weeks ago I started doing callentics again, and found I can manage these without adverse affects to the LD if I progress very slowly.
The scales have been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks now, despite the change in diet and the additional exercise. Feel very frustrated even though I know I usually lose weight very slowly. I tend to go for weeks without losing any and then all of a sudden I will lose a couple of pounds. I am just waiting for that to happen so I can get some encouragement.
Today is my dd2 18th birthday, we are going out to a carvery for a family meal, so I need to be very disciplined.Weight loss 0/2st

Hiya guys - I'm back, bigger than I've ever been before. So day 1 was today. Must admit, I was totally shocked when I stepped on the scales this morning. I knew I had put on some weight but...
Anyhoo, as many of you know my daughter has had some problems, first the dislocated right knee, then the broken right ankle (5.5 months in cast), still causing her problems, now a dislocated left knee. The left knee is a major concern as it's popping in and out with every step, just won't support her at all. We've been advised to get her on an exercise bike, suggested rowing machine (as I have one), no, suggested the vibrating machine (as I have one here), no, suggested cross trainer as I want one :rotfl:, no. The only thing she's allowed is the exercise bike. Well, I've found a combi bike/cross trainer on sale in amazon and should arrive by next weekend. So hopefully that will help us both lose weight.
I'm also planning to visit my GP for advice rather than going it alone this time.
I'll weigh in again on Wednesday morning for the sake of the chart (we still on Wednesdays) but I don't expect to lose much in the few days.
Stacey will be joining me in the challenge as she too has put on a lot of weight due to the various problems over the last year. I really don't know where I found the time to work :rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Welcome durham_mim and also mazza welcome back.
Yes I still do the chart on Wednesday night - please post your result by 11pm.
This week is the last week for the challenges - but as usual there will be new ones for July if you'd like to join in those.
Well done on the callanetics durham_mim.0 -

67.5 kg today. Will let you know what it is tomorrow.
I've just finished reading Zoe Harcombe's book 'Stop Counting Calories and start Losing Weight'. So much of what she says makes absolute basic common sense, but it is in opposition to much of what we've been told/encouraged to believe.
So, today I'm starting on Phase 1 of her diet. For 5 days I can have meat, fish, eggs, salads, vegetables, a small amount of brown rice (need to get some), olive oil and butter. Only water, herbal tea, decaf tea or coffee to drink.
I've found from experience that if I eat sandwiches or anything with white flour in it - on Saturday I had a lovely cheese scone - my weight starts to go back up.
I have a lot of experience of trying to diet by the calorie-counting route and it just has not worked. A good example was when I asked my GP, in desperation, to refer me to 'someone who knows what they're talking about'. He referred me to an NHS dietician - 3 months wait to see her! - who didn't understand why I wasn't losing weight on the calories I was eating according to my food diary. All she could suggest was 'more exercise'.
Durham_mim, look up Zoe Harcombe online. She probably has the explanation for what you describe above.

Hi all
I've STS this week Fred.
I'm happy with that, I half expected to have a gain this week.
Margaretclare - that sounds very similar to the paleo 'diet' that I was detoxing with. I did it for 5 days, and lost 6lbs so it does work, but what about the long term? Any weightloss programme needs to be something you can adopt in the long term, otherwise as soon as you stop doing it the weight goes back on again.
I haven't recorded any exercise again this week but I'm currently wallpapering the hall, stairs and landing, and I don't know how many times I've been up and down the stairs today! I should have counted.
Enjoy the sunshine if you've got some.

Hiya Mcjordi - I think we all feel like that at one point. I'd like to lose about 6 - 6.5 stone. I've done it before, but really want to get it off and keep it off this time.
What advice can I give you. Don't expect it to happen overnight. Why not first of all cut out your snacks. That's what I've done this week, and boy have I missed my crisps. And only been doing it since Monday :rotfl:
But I've had no beer since Sunday (I had one) and I do like my beer, but I haven't missed that.
Again I would tend to go easy to start with, and build up. There's been no exercise to speak of this week for us. Due to amazon having a delay on the bike/cross trainer. But it turned out quite good as Stacey isn't allowed to use the bike without her brace, her brace just got fitted today.
She spoke to the doctor today as it's really going to be hard for her to exercise with her condition, she's been referred to a dietician, I'll go along with her, it will give me fresh ideas on what to cook. Although I'm very fickle, don't like rice, not keen on pasta, not keen on pulses. So I do struggle after a wee while. At least in the summer we can eat more salads.
Is seeing your doctor and a dietician something that would benefit you? They may be able to give you a more accurate weight than the guesswork?
I am hoping that the scales show something by tomorrow but I really doubt it will. As I said, only started on Monday, so probably won't post until next Wednesday.
Beanie - Great to see you're still here :j4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Hi everyone hope you are all well and welcome to all the newbies.
Sorry I have been MIA but I have a new puppy dog who is demanding all my time and attention! I will catch up with all your posts.
I forgot to post on Wednesday but it was a STS.

Will update any (hopefully!) weight loss tomorrow.DFW Nerd 1394.
