Hi Lolly what is power plate? I have seen it mentioned and I notice there is a sign for it close to home but not sure what it involves.

I read recently that it's the 'snacking' culture that is to blame for the 'obesity epidemic'. 3 meals a day, and the final meal of the day not too late. Sounds simple, but maybe it works.

Hi Margaret - I think that's probably correct, but I also think the drinking culture has a lot to do with it, and quite often one is combined with the other. Drinking alcohol is often accompanied by consumption of crisps, peanuts, and other unhealthy snacks, and it seems to be a requirement to end a night on the town with a kebab or burger.

Pleased to hear your OH is recovering well, I hope it continues.

It's a vibration machine. When you do exercises on them (lunges, press ups, sit ups, etc), the vibrations contract your muscles hundreds of times, so a 10 min workout on the power plate is supposed to be like an hour of normal exercising. They are also supposed to be great for other things like circluation and flexibility. I don't think 10 mins is quite as much as an hour's workout, but it is definitely an effective way to workout, and really takes it out of you if you do it properly! This site will probably explain it better than I ever could, lol... http://www.powerplate.com/uk/

    Morning

Sorry I missed the weigh in this week. I did weigh and have put 1lb on so 13.3lb again. I think I dismissed it in disgust at myself and then forgot to post it!

I've done a fair bit of exercise this week though. I walked to town and back Tuesday and Wednesday, swam on Thursday and did my DVD, so 8km bringing my total to 26km.

I've got into a bad habit of having coffee with a sugar in it a couple of times a day. A little indulgence but this will stop today. I totally agree about snacking and I'm clamping down on this as well though I'm much better than I used to be.

Margaret - hope your husband makes a speedy recovery.
    Have a good weekend everybody.
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

I only tried the Powerplate at the gym once - it made me feel quite dizzy and I had a headache for a while afterwards. The instructor told me it doesn't suit everyone, but definately worth a try Froddo to see how you get on.

No exercise for me this week. Both myself and OH have been laid low with a chest infection - very annoying. Particulary frustrated at missing Bootcamp which I really enjoy. Only have a few sessions left so it feels like a waste to miss one and I don't think I will be able to afford to keep going after my current offer ends.

Have a good weekend everyone :)

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts and good wishes. I had a dental appointment early yesterday morning after which I was forbidden to do any exercise. My lovely Irish dentist lady instructed me to 'take it easy for the rest of the day, no exercising'. So I cancelled my aqua-aerobics. Just as well. Wouldn't believe that having one tooth out would make me feel so rotten. Feeling better now.

Lolly, thanks for that, it looks worth a try, definetly going on my to do list.:)

Jess, hope you and OH are feeling better soon. When I got home from Oz I couldn't join Bootcamp again until a new round started which was weeks away. As I was eager to get back on track I joined gymophobics, but when I get home from there, I spend about 10 minutes in front of a mirror doing the exercises for my legs I learnt at bootcamp. Keep telling myself each time, next time I'll do longer than 10 mins, but it hasn't happened yet lol!

Maybe you could keep up doing them at home or with a friend? I like the mirror as I can make sure I am doing them right.

Franby, I know were your coming from with the coffee. I do that with the milk. I have it black most of the time, but I find is someone makes me one with milk, I get the taste for it, and think just another, and another with milk.
