Thats why i find it hard to count calories, it doesn't work for me because i would feel guilty about what i'm eating and i don't think that is healthy.
You definitely need to be eating a lot more if your net calories were 669!
As for the holiday, life is too short to count calories then! No need to go mad on hols, but they are free and normally in hot weather you tend to want to eat less anyway (i find!)

Alliwant: I am :D All i need is for my boyfriend to be closer and life would be really good! Hope you're life is going well, i just read you live in devon and i'm going there in september! I will come and wave at you :D

Sarymclary, I'm 'sort of' doing bits of Dukan. Not eating any potatoes, trying to have one 'protein only' day a week. Other than that, I'm concentrating on 'healthy eating'. Watched a bit of a TV programme last night where 2 'secret eaters' were filmed - they swore blind that they ate very little, but it was what they 'snacked' on that explained their weight. So often I see TV programmes where people change to eating normal meals, no fast-foods, no takeaways, no snacking, and hey presto, the weight falls off them. I get a bit annoyed with them because for some of us it is not as simple as that. Passing McD's on my way back from hospital visiting last weekend, I really felt like stopping for a cheeseburger, but I drove past.

However, I'm back down to 67.8 kg and I'm much happier to be in the 67s than the 68s.

Now I don't have to worry about DH any more. He came home on Tuesday after spinal surgery a week ago, came back using crutches and not in a wheelchair, which was the worst-case scenario, We can now look forward and not back, look forward to the rest of our lives together.

I use food focus as well and I think the calorie allowances are too low. It wants me to have 982 cals per day to lose 1lb a week. Other information suggests under 1000-1200 cals is unsafe.

  • Oops, I'm late - sorry Fred!

I'd lost 1.4lbs this week, if it can be added on to my total for next week?

Had a good day yesterday, had a big clean up session - hoovered the whole house, mopped, washed windows, 2 loads of washing, etc, etc. Had 30 mins playing on the park with the kids, and did 20 mins on the power plate. No idea what all that equates to, Fred?

Going to have another power plate session today, really felt it in my muscles last night, and can even still feel it today! I really pushed myself, but feel better for it now... no pain, no gain! ;)

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, it has been a hair-raising time, especially a week ago Thursday when I dropped him off at the hospital for 7.30 am admission and then went home waiting to hear, waiting for him to phone me, which didn't happen until about 6 pm. Until then, although I went to 50+ stretch-and-tone my heart wasn't in it, I just couldn't bear sitting indoors chewing my fingernails to the elbows. I've only just found out why he didn't phone me as soon as he got back to the ward from Recovery, which was what he promised to do. He couldn't feel his legs for a few hours, and he knew that would freak me out. Meantime I had his daughter on the phone wondering why I hadn't phoned the ward - well, I knew they wouldn't tell me much, not what I wanted to know anyway. In fact, the worst-case scenario was not only that he wouldn't come home at all but that he would come home in a wheelchair. All that has been averted. Before he came home the surgeon sat down and told him exactly what he'd done and what he'd decided not to do because the risks were just too great. He's had the pressure relieved from his spinal cord and now it's just a question of recovery and re-mobilisation. One thing you need for recovery that you can't get in hospital and that's a good night's sleep! There's absolutely nothing like your own bed at home where you know where you are, no one comes in to disturb you and you can do as you like.

Meantime, I've had to cancel aqua-aerobics this morning because I had an early dental appointment and I was told very sternly by my lovely Irish dentist lady to 'take things quietly for the rest of the day, no exercising'! Yes, ma'am, will do it.

Weight is down to 67.5 kg this morning.

I read recently that it's the 'snacking' culture that is to blame for the 'obesity epidemic'. 3 meals a day, and the final meal of the day not too late. Sounds simple, but maybe it works.
