Lose Weight 35

I want to lose a bit of weight (before my hols in late June if I can), so I am stepping up the anti on the exercise. I use the Wii and Sports Active 2, and also have a really good rowing machine, and have been exercising at least 3 times a week (motivation stops me from doing more). Because both my wife and I work, meal times are a problem, so sometimes I am eating too many carbs, after 6pm, which I believe is bad. My real question though, is about the calorie counting. I've just had a roast beef sandwich with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, on wholemeal bread, along with a few spring onions, and radishes. How do I know what calories I've eaten? Forgot to mention, I also snack on fruit and nuts, in the odd handfull.
Hi Rob - welcome to the thread.
There's a great website where you can track everything you eat, any exercise you do, and it will tell you how many calories you should stick to in order to lose weight. It's called Food Focus - here's a link.
If the sandwich you had was ready prepared, it will tell you the total calories in the nutritional information provided on the packaging. And there's an app you can get for smart phones where you scan the barcode and it gives you the information. I don't use it myself, but others here do, so someone will be along to tell you soon.

Now for the exercise challenge.
friday - 1 hour walking (moderate pace)
Saturday - 40mins walking (slow to moderate)
Sunday - 30mins digging in the garden preparing flowerbeds
Today/monday - 40mins walking moderate pace & 50mins wii fit (249 cals estimate, boxing, step, hula)
Hope i am not making the calculations too hard for you fred!
I am not in my slimming world group on thursday this week and can't make another group so won't be weighing in (not worth trying to use different scales for 1 week!) It is my ickle boy's 5th birthday onthe 17th which should be weigh in day and i will be slaving in the kitchen cooking party food and making his birthday cake ready for his party on saturday. Not expecting weigh in to go great when i do go back as this weekend was my husbands birthday and we actually went out!! so diet has gone hugely off track. Hoping i can make up for it though and will try not to indulge too much at my sons party. I will still check in to see how everyone does and log exercise!0 -

This calorie counting isn't easy. I've just gone on to food focus to enter what I had for tea last night, and because it isn't a listed meal, I have to enter it, but I have to enter Protein, Total Carbs and Total Fat. I don't know these figures. Is it just me, or is calorie counting stressful???:D0

Welcome Robm
Was the meal you had last night homemade? If so and it is a meal that you make regularly use the Create Meals function. You search for and add all of the ingredients to create your own database of meals. The first week or so it is quite time consuming, but after that it is really easy.
If it is a preprepared meal the information is usually on the pack and you can then store it as a favourite.
Keep with it - once you get used to all of the features it is easy and really does help. Good luck0 -
Yes Jess.Basically, just had a few oven chips, scampi and frozen peas.0

Robm - then you would just search each item and add them to your daily total. You don't need to enter carbs, protein etc, it is all done for you. If the particular make isn't listed just tick the 'unbranded only' box when you search and use the average example given. Not sure I have explained that very well, but hope it helps.0
