Hi I was wondering if i could join. What do i need to do

Hi welcome annie. I do the chart every Wednesday night so if you post your weight result (loss, gain or STS (stay the same)) I'll add it to the chart.

You can also join in any of the challenges that we run - there is a lose 5lb challenge in a month, a team weight loss challenge (you'll need to pm me your starting weight so I can calculate your % loss - but it remains totally confidential) which this month is a sibling challenge and an exercise challenge - the Eurovision pub crawl.

To join any of the challenges you either need to post in the thread or pm me and I'll add you in. :T:T

Thanks for the chart Fred :)

    Welcome Annie6869 and XYZ1000.

Alliwant - welcome back, and glad to hear you had a lovely time in NYC. I haven't been there for years, but it's one of my favourite places to visit. I don't know about running shoes, but I reckon a canoe would have been an ideal gift, given the state of the weather.

I don't know about everyone else, but I struggle to feel the diet vibe so well when it's dark, dreary and miserable outside. We should be enjoying those much lighter evenings in the warm spring sunshine, but I think we last saw the sun in early March, before the clocks went forward! I'd had a plan that as the evenings drew out, I'd go for a walk after dinner every night, to get the exercise up. It's yet to happen, and that is in the main due to the weather (I'm a fair weather person, can you tell)?

Lolly - glad the info helped. You will be much the wiser for having a book to read through, and know the basics. There are far less do's/don'ts on the EE plan. The reason for syning the fruit is that if it's been changed in any way from it's natural form (so mashing/puree/smoothie/cooked), then chances are you can eat far more of it, hence you'll consume more calories. You'll also get hardly any benefit of the fibre/bulk it provides in the body. If your body has to work harder to break down a food, it consumes more calories doing so, and the food will keep you fuller for longer, therefore you need to eat less to be satisfied. Think of how much fruit you could shove into a smoothie, how quickly you'd eat it, and how fast it'd be digested. If it was just fruit in a bowl to eat, you probably would struggle to eat it all.

The syns thing is a bit of a pain at times, but when you consider how much is 'free' food, I suppose it's a small price to pay. The basis of SW is to teach you how to eat more healthily, making food from scratch, which I suppose is very MSE in itself. I think the EE plan was introduced in order to avoid the syning of what in principle seems like ordinary food, and not unhealthy stuff, so you can have your spag bol, chilli and rice, etc. and fit it more easily into family life.

First day of a new week for us all today, so make it a good one guys!
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

    Hello

Thanks for the chart Fred and for the SOTW award. I feel a bit of a fraud as that was a 2lb gain last week, but I'll accept it gracefully and gratefully. :)

Well done everyone, and welcome to the newcomers. Keep coming back and letting us know how you're getting on, there's lots of support and advice available.

Alliwant - sounds like you had a great time in NYC. I absolutely loved it there, but you can't help putting weight on. We loved Roxy's Deli in Times Square and couldn't resist the cheesecake - only about 10,000 calories a portion! :rotfl:

I was surprised to see the SW links as they used to be available only to paying members, either online customers or class members. Healthy extras are the holy grail. I find it quite amusing how SW have become more like WW and vice versa.

    Catch you later :)

I've gone back to what I was doing before on Dukan, although I've allowed myself some fruit including apples and oranges, no bananas. I haven't had any bread for 3 days now. I've gone back to the oat-bran porridge for breakfast and then a meal with green veg at lunch-time and some cold meat and salad at tea-time. I've been making sugar-free Hartley's jelly and we have that with half-fat creme fraiche. We've had muller light fat-free yogurt and shared an orange between us.

I should be out today helping my friends who're standing for election, but I've done something to my knee - twisted it maybe? - and need to rest it. Walking on it won't do it any good at all.

Hi vicci! Interesting spelling there! I'm a vicki :p Congrats on the wedding, 2 and a half stone should be easy to lose for next summer. My tip would be to work harder at your exercise even if you think you are doing well, because i used to think i did a hard session at the gym, but what i do now in comparison to back when i first started is quite funny! Then remember to increase it as your fitness improves! Good luck :)

Fred: I wanted to be apart of the euro challenge fred! I didn't know if there was confusion over my confusion but im still up for the exercise one!

    Thanks for the chart Fred.

    Welcome to all newbies

I agree Vix - when I look back at what exercise I used to find difficult it makes me smile. The secret is to really push yourself - or have someone push you. The trainer who runs local boxercise is great - won't take any excuses and by the time you have finished you really know you have worked.

The gym must be a bit quieter next week due to the BH as I have managed to book myself on to two Body Pump sessions. I have been trying for weeks. Just hope I can keep up with it now!
